Hi folks,
Going to be doing a mini rebuild on my EK9 engine within next few weeks and after some advice, I have done research on the matter but wanted some further advice from people on this forum as there are many people on hear knowledgeable on the subject.
The engine is a Spoon stroked B16B. Its smoking at idle, in VTEC at high RPM. The valve stem seals, PCV valve have been changed. This helped but didn't cure the issue. After research its either going to be Valve guides or piston rings so both are going to changed. I'm after advice on what brand products to use, I know alot of people would say OEM. Below is the list of things to do:
Valve Guides:
For valve guides I have been looking at supertech and Ferrea. I've read magnese bronze will create a better seal but won't last as long. The car isn't a daily, more of a toy so will cover around 5k max a year.
SUPERTECH BRONZE VALVE GUIDES Civic Si / Integra GSR / Prelude B18C B16A H22A | eBay
Ferrea Valve Guide DOHC VTEC Honda Acura Civic Integra GSR B Series B-Series | eBay
Anyone used these guides? Good or bad points?
Valves:
As for valves I have seen these:
HONDA CIVIC INTEGRA B SERIES INTAKE VALVE B16A - Civic EK9 Type R Parts
http://japserviceparts.co.uk/honda-civic-integra-b-series-exhaust-valve-b16a-b18c.html
Have you used these valves before or would you recommend sticking with Honda valves or supertech or ferrea?
Edit: just read that the type R intake valves are different so will most likely just go for Honda ones.
Piston Rings:
Was going to go with Riken as I know Honda use these, can't seem to find any in stock though so was going to get NPR or TPR instead.
I know this is quite a long winded post but any help would be appreciated. Going to order the parts within next week or so.
Thanks
Nick
