Thought I'd show a few pics of what I've been doing in my spare time for the last month or so!
Basically, I bought my EK and was really happy with it however after a few days, it started to run like an absolute dog! It smoked a little bit upon purchase, and I thought nothing of it really but by the fourth day it was billowing out and also VTEC was intermittent as well. Done a compression test and got some piss poor results so decided to take it off the road and rebuild it.
Here is the work that has been done to the head...
- Cleaned up first with a dry blaster, then a wet blaster & then skimmed
- New valve seats
- New valve guides
- New valve stem seals
- New valve springs
- New retainers
- Valves refaced and carefully lapped in to match the new seats
All work has been done by myself with help on the trickier bits by my next door neighbour
New parts awaiting to be fitted with the re-assembly (DNR are doing this not me!)
- Timing belt and tensioners
- Head gasket & all other top end gaskets
- Water pump
- Thermostat
- Sump (that isnt scuffed and dented to oblivion like the one currently fitted!)
- All other service items (filters, fluids, plugs etc)
I'll let the pics do the rest of the talking...
In the workshop, starting to be dismantled
Manky inlet valve
VILE exhaust valves!
Valveless
In the bead blaster
Looking a bit cleaner...
New valve seats
Ready to go in the dry blaster
Removing the inlet gasket
