vtec function still works, comes on a little earlier now, about 4800rpm.
i appreaciate the advise though i disagree with some of it, also if you read the entire thread (which i dont exepect anybody to do) you'll see i melted the b16b pistons and went with flat top pr4 pistons so i do agree that b16b pistons are bad for boost. and topfuel japan is nothing compared to other tuners in the world as 500hp is easy to attain, the shop i work at had customers making 700whp back in 1998 with a stock type R cylinder head and a built shortblock. and stephanie eguum makes 1200whp+ in a civic.
i love top fuel dont misunderstand, its just that they dont make any of there products, they use all hks and apexi parts.
the shortblock is what is going to see 90% of the abuse of the turbo so i dont think you really need to upgrade the valvetrain unless you plan on revving higher or putting larger cams. ive seen 400whp on a stock b18c1 valvetrain.
ahh, so your's is a TurboVTEC.....lov it, anyway......well i know horsepower are easy to make but that Civic(by topfuel) currently holds the record of the fastest Civic in japan's tsukuba's record, so that makes 500 bhp with a well combine of chasis work, respect to that, but that car also clocked 11sec in a 0-400 run, pretty impressive for a track car(yup, no other drag tuning include)oh and by the way, that was 2001.....
well, all in all i do recommend changing the valves(all of them and every part of them) as your sporting a VTECTurbo, the valves will get exhausted pretty quick if u revv high all the time, all my advices in previous post leads to one thing only, the longevity of the engine. Oh, and sorry bout the piston stuff,
its a 7 page topic u can't expect me to remember every single detail sorry k?
