Trying hard to find a definative answer to this problem at the moment....

Im having a head rebuilt at the machinst, he has phoned to say the springs were different heights, and wasnt sure which ones should go where.

I also have a spare set of dc2 valvesprings at home. After inspecting them they appear to me no different at all. in terms of height, paint markings, thickness etc.

After researching on the net, it appears, some type r springs do differ exst/inlet and some dont? Did anyone know this????

I know that yellow paint indicates inlet and blue exhaust. But neither sets have paint left on them.

I presume the taller ones go on the inlet side. (from what I have read/and there is a bigger valve)

But does anyone have any knowledge of this, as I would like to be confident on what to tell the machinst.

BTW, the springs in questions are from a uk dc2 apparently (in fact they are Stevenek9's old b18 ones, as I have recently bought these with the cams from a friend of mine)

thanks

Ali.

Ali, the cams and springs came off a low mileage JDM type R head i bought from Livvy originally

You are correct though, the intake springs are marginally longer

Cheers

I can confirm that the inlets are taller and thinner in coil dia. compared to the exhausts set as i noticed this and researched it after a recent head rebuild (on b18c6 uk).

Stevenek9 - thanks for the confirmation.

Thanks guys for commenting. That confirms what I thought.

As I said I have another set which are currently up for sale. however after inspecting these, they dont differ in any way I can find.....Does anyone know if some are infact the same??

Thanks.

Apparently the obd2b itrs from 2000-2001 have the same intake and exhaust springs but dont know if that was jdm or ukdm or both maket models.

Awesome! Just had this problem tonight, and good old google+ ek9.org has the answer!

Thanks lads!
