Hi guys, I have noticed recently on the forum and have been informed by a few users of thier ek9's sadly getting stolen from thier homes :(( One of the users that was discussing this with me had mentioned that he thought personal details were possibly being obtained from the forum ie: registration numbers, names, date of births etc and then this information being used to track down car locations
Have spoke to rvm about this and he is going to inform other forums as well to try and take some precautions to help cut this problem down. This sadly is just the world we live in these days however you can take certain precautions on here to help keep your cars safe. The main one being not revealing your registration number in pics of your cars and that and the obvious one dont give any details out to people you dont know.
I know this might a bit obvious but members cars are being stolen and sadly not returned in 1 piece so anything we can do to try and prevent this will be a bonus.

Cheers for your time guys stay safe and any problems or queries dont hesitate to contact a mod/admin about it.

cheers again.

Ye very good point! My car was attempted to be stolen but alarm woke me, i have photos of car in my driveway and on my road not a good idea!

The people you refer to are they in the UK or in eire to

yeah mate England, although i know they are being targeted in Ireland as well and saying that a scottish members jordan got stolen only a couple months back as well so seems to be all over but 2 9's have been takin in Birmingham in the last few weeks, both members on here. If they get the car registration number and the owners name the cars aint hard to find sadly.

I think the forum pages need to be locked to members only. Go on southwestcivics and itr-dc2 you can not view the pages untill you have signed in. We are making ourselves easy targets.

Gona get some big **** off locks for mine when I get it back.

This is a good idea I will never b makin this mistake again
it took me so long to save for my 9 and mods jus for sum scrots to take it away from me and as ur probally aware if u red my thread I found the shell battered up a scrapyard next in line to get crushed after only 10mins of being there!
Like I've said b4, I hope the police nail these bastards!
As gav has said stay safe, and take the right pracausions so this doesn't happen to yourselfs

Personally I never show my number plate in any pics and its for the very reason its all to easy to track down the owners details from it. I'd advise any members posting pics of their car to edit the photo and blank/erase the number plate before posting the pic for people to see.

Should be in General, and maybe the Photo's / Members Rides and Build-up forums to a sticky.

blankin the plates is the best idea also keepin your location vague i.e iv put in the area n not my town! having the page locked to members only is a good idea but it wont stop people from signing into the site and getting the into they want! bad times for the car world these days

If your really making your car mega secure pay the money n get a tracker fitted its the only way!

i though this was a safe *** campaign gav haha

trust you Danny boy ;)

sadly this is true, thieving scumbags will do anything these days !

How times have changed for the worse, when my parents we growing up no one even locked thier houses never mind cars there was no need at the time it wasnt even thought of. Now however you cant sit a packet of 10p crisps down without some scum nicking them :((

Just a thought maybe members ride section should have a minimum post count or something like that to stop any Fred Smith looking at it. Maybe start up a poll or something to see how the rest of the forum feels against it?

Or am i taking it a bit far? Even if it stops 1 car a year from being stollen its gotta be worth it right?

Sorry dint see this post. Think this is a better idea

Threads like 'How much have you spent on your Civic?' probably don't help.

Lock the forum down, and do it quickly I say, there's really no need to keep it open.

all options are being discussed at the mo mate we'll wait and see what the most appropriate action is to be taken.
