I`ve purchased a vtec controller for my EK4 VTI and was just seeing if anyone has experience in either fitting or using one?

there are many available.apexi, vart, fields,r spec, buddy club etc what one is it thay are all easyily fitted.ones with fuel control are most udeful as no point moving tec without changing fuelling to suit the crossover point

Pointless gimmick for the most part. In the case of the VAFC (and I suspect a fair few of the others) you can adjust the fuelling but the ignition is adjusted passively. You add fuel, the car thinks it's under load and retards the ignition, the exact opposite of what you want.

Setting the VTEC point lower is useless as you are asking a high speed cam to work outside of its operational range, although setting it higher to 6k and above can be fun for the 'kick'.

A passenger in my car actually thought some kind of restraint had snapped when it kicked in at 6.6k.

I have one on my 9. I have mixed feelings on it, it was on when i got the car so i left it on , can be fun to have tec for longer. mine doesnt change fueling but is ok where ever you set the tec to come in within reason,

tec at 2500 is pointless and nuts, thats as low as it will allow thank god.:nono:

the "proper way" to use piggyback VTEC controllers with the ability to adjust fuel as well is to buy a fuel pressure regulator and up the baseline pressure so it runs rich throughout the entire rev range.

Then you use the VAFC or whatever **** piece to decrease the fueling appropriately. You cannot use the **** piece to add too much fuel because the map sensor gets all confused and then decides the car is running too rich and eventually throws a code and you run in limp mode.

Far better to just keep the stock ECU until you have the means to get a proper remap/tune.

i had an r spec one that was on the car, as said before it didn't change the air fuel mixture so lowering the vtec iwas pointless. took it out as soon as i could

also the vtec changeover just felt weird

a friend of mine had one in his gsr integra(came with the car) car ran horrible with the thing after about a week of me tryin to get him to remove the unit he did and guess what car ran like a champ. The units are just crap i dont get the point if u already have it all controlled from the ecu:nice:

I got it cheap so there is massive lose, the reason I got it was more to change the fuelling (like a powercommander on a bike) I have a ram air cold feed airbox set up that seems to be running lean at the higher speeds so I was hoping I could dial some more fuel in but this doesn`t seem to be the case by these replies, so how do I do it?

You sure you can adjust fuel with the unit you have? Plus when changing fueling, you must adjust accordingly ignition timing.
