How can a ford enthusiast have the cheek to say vtec overrated. There has been over 15 million vtec system produced and not one has gone wrong. I think the guy who started the thread only dreams of owning a Honda and the only way he can feel better is to reasure himself that they are overrated. Absolute moreron.

TBH its silly trying to compare different car manufacturers as they all have different aspiration's, motive's, goals, etc..

Ford's of old where great at slapping a turbo on and some other bits and making pretty good power, they had steel bottom ends so it was simple! Anyone who has ever sat in a tuned serria or escort will definitely agree, that turbo surge is something to live for!
The hole turbo vs na debate is stupid and pointless and I'd be the first to admit that sometimes i'd love a car that you dont have to rev the nuts off for it to go anywhere, but then there are other times when driving like a loon at 9k rpm is the best feeling in the world! It all depends on your driving style and what you want from a car!
Horses for courses, but there is always going to be fanboy responses on any car site even this one...
 
Very TRUE from elchunk its all personal prefrence and alot down to driver style, I personally love most manufactures an ford is one of my favs I nearly bought an older rs and recently a newer one there quick but in a different way, I raced a slightly tuned older rs focus in Warrington an I had no 3rd gear he wasn't pulling away, I also raced a 310bhp one in dudno an although I beat him it was down to my knowledge of the road (twisty) also me being a bit crazy on that road on the straight no doubt he would of left me but I would of loved hearing him boost past :)

Alot of the guys on there were defending vtec even the ones who did not like them still said the system was great an unmatched in engineering potential, the ones who let it down were the ones who completely wrote them off either they drove them once an were crap or went in one and it was slow, in sure you will all agree to drive one to its full it took alot of learning how to, not a jump in an perfect drive car. They need to go in one with someone who can drive a Honda properly knowing how to use them from experience then see. A TRUE petrol head in my eyes enjoys all marques for there differences and there advancements in there own engines and set Ups for the different driving styles of everyone :)

Haha, i dont care what anyone says about vtec, i just smile an wave as i over take astra vxrs an st focuses, as if they were going in reverse! Thats just a standard S2k, except mani, intake an exhaust, imagine if i boosted it!
 
hmmmmm there was enough torque in my standard s2000 to beat a audi 3.2 quattro thingybob on a private runway
