Here is how the engine bay used to look when it had the b16b
Engine been removed.
Engine out! The engine was sold to R-Motion.
So while the engine was out I decided to get the engine bay freshly painted. Wiring etc stripped back and some prep work
Back from been sprayed
Picked up this b16a2 for a good price however it is a little smokey! Quick coat of paint to clean it up.
Fitted Gates racing timing belt and new tensioner.
B18C Intake manifold+Throttle body fitted.
ACT 6-puck heavy duty clutch and ITR flywheel fitted.
Engine fitted.
Back door entry FMIC fitting
Some of the pipes were a little long so out with the grinder!
All boost pipes connected up
Sprayed up the flaking b16a rocker cover
Custom 3" exhaust been fabricated
Vibrant Performance backbox
Custom catch can and rocker cover fitted.
Spot the FMIC!
Quick run down of spec;
b16a2 stock internals!
Twin Scroll TD05 Turbo
Race-Tech SS Equal Length Manifold
Race-Tech SS 2.5" Downpipe w/Screamer
Race-Tech SS Braided Oil & Water Lines
Race-Tech SS Intercooler Pipework w/Joiners
Race-Tech Back Door Entry FMIC
3" Exhaust
ACT 6-Puck Clutch
ITR Flywheel
ITR Inlet Manifold
Walbro fuel pump
I.D1000cc Injectors
Mapped with Neptune
PWM boost control(ecu controlled)
Mishimoto radiator
Ran into plenty of problems along the way mainly with the turbo kit. First turbo I got had bits blown out of the turbine that held me up for another month waiting on replacement turbo. Then I had a boost creep issue so I had to port the wastegate and widen the DP as much as possible which done the trick for the most part, still getting slight boost creep in 5th. The engine is bit of a oil burner and I suspect worn valve guides and or stem seals been the culprit. Head is coming off in next few weeks to fit some ARP headstuds as its lifting at 1bar!! so i'll further investigate the problem then.
Just some pics I took last week when I clay barred my EK9 and applied some dodo juice supernatural wax. Yet to finish drivers side so that's all the pics for now!
And one of the engine bay
Have BC coilovers to fit next and trying to source a set of Slipstreams as my EK9 wheels are showing there age! Will update this thread as I go along
