Want to go faster - Whats next for my EK9?


Think there will be four EK9's on track (not bad as only 12 cars in our group).

UPDATE - :drive:

Been doing some real digging around and it seems the engine swap is totally the best route to better performance without changing the EK9's feel.

So, B18C conversion here we go...

You have defo made the rite choice in going with the B18 swap for what you want!:drive:

You are not far from Castle Combe, on Monday 6th July there will be several EK9's there in various states of tune for the HOT day, unfortunately no B18 EK9 as Dan has had to drop out, come and get a pax lap or two..

& poor me!:p Still gutted im not going to this!:mad:
Started getting my parts together now for my re-build as im missing my 9 & it only been off the road 3weeks!:secret:

The guys at Performance Autoworks said the manifold would be fine, maybe I need to check this out a little more?

Can anyone else confirm that it will be 2mm too small?

The EK9 manifold is 100% the same as the pre-98spec DC2's:secret:
But if you could you would be alot better with the 98spec B18 manifold as that is a 4-1 & alot less restrictive!:nice: or an after market manifold of cors!:D

6 seconds? I know it's not exactly pin point precision but my RSM records me doing 0-60s ranging from 5.4s to 6.1s depending on my launch and ambient temperature. (I'm not very good at launching)

I have:
Spoon ECU
Spoon Engine damper
Lightweight flywheel
6 puck XTD clutch
4-1 Manifold 2.5 all the way out the back.
Whale ***** or ITR CAI box depending on mood (currently DIYing and testing it)
15" TE37s with RE01-Rs
Zeal fixed bucket seat (Recaros weigh a ton!!!!)
No back seats.

I mean keep in mind not as accurate as a strip or a gun but when I match the GPS+speedo+RSM at 100 it never wonders away from it. So it's less than 1% off.

An EK9 is defo a sub 6 second 0-60 car.

I agree with the gear ratios people talk about though, B18 next month mofos!!! :D :D
 
well i have a gsr motor in my 9 and its reliable runs smooth ass hell... and i allready beat all 06-07 civic SI 2 door 4 door a b16 eg hacth and i just beat today a b20 turbo dc....very good motor...
 
try doing a k-swap! i dont think you will be disappointed. alot of guys i know are doing or have done one and are very pleased with the result. its about 60 lbs lighter than a b16b and if you want even better acceleration you can buy a 2009 japan civic type r final drive and really have some fun:nice:
