I got an C/F hatch and my spare tire looks like a black lifesaver in my trunck more so now days. I sealed off 99.9% of the openings the was open from factory and checked the rubber seal around the body, but I can't seem to find it. ANYONE with a C/F hatch that had the same problem (potential rust  :nono: :nerv:)

Have you checked the seals on your rear lights there common to leak? You could remove them and silicon them up on the padded seal. Worth a look.

I did check them a while back and it did look like it would leak down, but I didn't see any rust or water stains!

Check boot seals
Check spoiler mounts
Check lights (as said above)
Check rear quater window seals

I own an EG so i dont know the places the EK leaks but i expect it'll be about the same.

As said check light seals, might not be tightened in properly, even the smallest of gaps will let water in. Boot sealsare tight all the way round as they do wear and tear over the years soi might not be visible form a glance.

Dry it the inside thoroughly.
Sit yourself or a vigilant friend in the boot..
Close the lid.
Let loose with a hosepipe on the exterior..
You or your vigilant friend should be able to spot where the water is leaking through.

Check for body sealer cracking by the top outside corner of the rear lights and also just under the light.
Thats where mine was leaking in.

I have used all the info and tips everyone has given me and I found where it is leaking! :blinx:

The rear vent door assembly has an adhesive strip around them, and it looks like something from the deli store cause they are in bad shape for some type of gasket.

So tomorrow I'm heading out to the hardware store and buying something more rugde!

Thanks for all the help finally no more car pooling :secret: LMAO!

This is what I did to fix this whale hole! While I was in the rear I converted my brake lights to EK9 setup (both top and bottom light up when you hit the brake pedal) it is really simple for diy'ers out there! :nice: :p

You'll need (2) 7443 bulb, (2) 7443 plug from junkyard, 12-16 gauge wire shrink wrap, soldering and soldering gun, wire strippers, file or dremel and final but not least a brain!

First cut the two wires for the bottom brake bulb at the plug and the green wire w/ white tracer on the top plug (leave room).

Next connect the two wires that were cut for the bottom brake plug, and connect the green w/ white tracer wire to the top brake plug.

Now check to see if you did the wiring correctly by turning on the light switch
(If the light is really bright like your stepping on the brake you have to which the red and green w/ white and you should be fine).

If all is good solder and cover it with the shrink wrap!

Now for the water just clean the metal and foam gasket surface since you have the brake housing out then use some silicone.

I'll show some pics sometime later!

While I was in the rear I converted my brake lights to EK9 setup (both top and bottom light up when you hit the brake pedal)

Just to piont out that the ek9 has 2 side lights and only one brake light in the top part of the unit. The brake light doubles up as a side light.
Sorry to piss on your bomb fire.

By the way if you look up top my style brake light housing is Ek9 which means the two side lights (color red) most likely are there. I would know cause I just put new bulbs in and it looks really nice!

Do it the right way with soldering the wires and covering up your work with shrink wrap and not junctions connectors. You'll feel safe that when your getting pulled over you know that it is cause your driving a nice car!

Again thanks for the info PEOPLE!
