Hi Guys
although i sold my sir at christmas im still a fan of the site so much so that this weekend fingers crossed i have somebody coming to buy my impreza which means its honda time again! the problem is im really not sure what to go for i had a ek4sir before which i loved so the obvious move is a ek9 but im just not sure if the 9 will be too raw for my 70miles a day round trip for work, so im thinking maybe a nice ek4 vti or sir again. what do you think?

Although the nine is a mint car i wouldnt suggest getting it to travel 70 miles a day bud alot if lads sold there ni es because of travellin

thats what i was worried about the suspension doesn't bother me as i had coilover on my last ek but the lack of noise deadning and thinner glass is making me think the road and exhaust noise could start to get on my nerves. Also i was wondering how much more fuel they use i would get about 280miles out of my sir.

Im not to sure how many miles you would get bud but id go for an sir ek4 for traveling it will still be jus as bad but not as bad as a nine why dont you buy a nine n get a cheap run about :)

I can get 300 miles out of my ek9, and because I have a stock ek.. Standard suspension and exhaust it's very easy to live with as a daily. Buy an ek9 mate :))

tried that before when i had a sti running 320bhp and i never used the thing just the run about so i want someting thats quick but not to heavy on the gas, i should never of sold my sir really but i had the money so went back to imprezas.
what is it about the 9s that make them bad for long disstance driving

Considered a DC2? faster than a ek9 and cheaper! Out of the dc2's, 96spec would be your best bet for motorway driving with the 4.4fd

Ever considered an EP3 or DC5? They are more easier to live with for long journeys and just as quick.

I'd say a 9. I'd be dead happy doing a 70 mile trip to work :)

i do a 60 mile round trip per day in mine :nice:

ive had a ep3 not impressed went from that to my sir and a dc5 is out of my price range. i have considered a dc2 but i prefer the looks of the ek. Think a test drive in a ek9 is the best bet and go from there!
thanks everybody

B18c'd EK9

I had a VTi and put a B18c in it and the B18c was no worse on fuel than the B16a2 so i cant imagine the B16b is either.

just go for an ek9 mate, look awesome! Or you could maybe consider a jordan probs better on the miles

Ek9's ain't that bad on the noise. If you want to quieten it down what about a removeable bung, had one on my mb6 and it made a massive difference on the motorway.
I used to manage 350 miles to a full tank, 300 of that was sensible motorway miles too.

I'm not one for cheap runabouts, it's extra money for insurance, mot and road tax plus running costs. Had a cheap diesel when I first got my ek9 but sold it on after a month as I loved driving the 9 so much.

traitors ! :p

Damn! I've been found :p

But seriously if you wanted something more quiet for motorway journeys then get one of those I mentioned. When I first got my EK9 and took it on the motorway I thought it was very loud compared to my EJ9 but now I am used to it and its not too bad. Just turn up the music
