As above....

Looking to get an amp and sub fitted, nothing fancy though.. But most places i've tried in Falkirk or Glasgow seem to be charging around £100, i got this amp years and years ago so thought i'd just get it fitted as its just gathering dust, labour to fit it is worth more than the amp itself which i think is pointless lol...

So does anyone know where or who can fit it for cheaper?

Cheers guys :)

i will fit it for £80 for u mate, pm if your interested

IT isnt dificult to do yourself. Power cable from battery with a fuse inline to your amp. Speaker cables and remote wire from rear of headunit to amp. Connect the amp to the sub. Done!

:nice:

DIY it man its very easy to do

as said above DIY man its an easy job

Cheers for the picture and replies guys! I've seen videos etc of an amp getting fitted as well, I'd save alot of money doing it myself but tbh its quite fiddly and i'm really clumsey and quite the noob so chances are i might break something etc!

See, I can't find it easy. Connections to / from HU and amp aren't hard, BUT! I am buggered if I can find a way to get the new wires through to the door speakers. I don't want to splice as teh original cabling isn't great, but I can't even get to the grommet on the car side.... I have tried from the car, so tomorrow Ima have the door cards off and try to go from door side, but I don't hold much hope due to the shape and length of the grommets and their inaccessability.

Anyone any tips?

Thanks

if your pushing or pulling any wires it helps to tie them to something strong like a metal coat hanger and thread that through

other than that all you need is patience, wiring up a soundsystem is fairly easy

I haven't really tried to get through the door grommets yet, tbh, but I'm REALLY struggling to access from in the car on the passenger side. The grommets aren't straight, they go up (or down) and I can't get to where they fit into the door to pop an end off...
I can't even identify where the current speaker wire goes, as I was looking to tape the new one from the door side and drag through. These damn Hondas are put together well!!!

Cheers Keith. I also have to get adaptor kit for the harness / head unit to save chopping stuff about... I am hoping to have got it all in today, but we shall see as its bouncing down so can't get teh door cards off :/

I AM using an amp, and at the mo just spliced in behind the head unit. When the seven storms of the apocalypse stop, then I may well investigate door cards out and rewire into the doors. There's mids and tweeters in it, so I have to assume there's a crossover in the doors. Ima go fetch the new speakers iminently (had to be ordered in) once I've put all the radio dashboard bit back and refitted a couple of internal panels.
Wish me luck due to the weather - I may need a boat and I'm on parada 2s with yellow stuff pads.....
I'll report back when I get teh speakers in. Luckily the folks in the shop ( Home - Western Car Radio ) will help me set the amp and HU up so I got decent balance. Just got to brave opening the bonnet to try to attach the power lead to battery now. Kevlar / carbon bonnet + 60 - 80mph winds ain't a great combo.... lol

I dont think the standards had a crossover box, so if you have a cross over box you will have to mount that somewhere too, good luck :nice:

Yeppy got crossover box. All is in except new speakers and it bloody works! ITS A MIRACLE, I tell thee!!!
Any tips on where to put crossovers?

depends if you want to see it or not! you can mount within the door metalwork, you can mounting within the storage bit on door card or you can mount it to the door card and bee seen (if its a fancy one)

Just not that if you stick it on door card to put removable crimps on the wires so you can take door card off at a future date :nice:

I would, ideally, like them hidden and door card side so they have a bit of protection from the elements being car side of the "weatherproofing" membrane. I won't be doing them today or tomorrow (missus off tomorrow and she'll moan like hell, probably), but as I had the door card off, its a fairly quick job. Pig to put back on though :/
