why do some ek9s come up as es's when i come to insure them

Possibly because they are not correctly registered on the log book.

Or some DVLA input error or the insurance company your using is naff.

Best person to ask would the current owner. See if they know or had the same problem etc.

i think it depends on who registered it when the car first came into the country

ive owned a pulsar gtir which was registered as a pulsar ls

a friend of mine also told me that theres loads of people driving starlet turbos insured as just 1.3 so insurance is cheap, not sure how true tho

my DC2 came up as a bloody insight with about half the insurers on compare the meerkat! I think its just an import thing.

Its all to do with how honest the person that registered the car first was, there are ek9's insured as all sorts over here and i doubt any glanza turbo in this country is properly registered

My friend bought a dc5 and when he went to insure it, it was on the system as a 1.6 white coupe.. How they get away with it I don't know

Good thread! Was gonna post a similar thread as my ek9 comes up as a basic 1.6 non vtec on insurance. Not complaining though as insurance is cheaper (y)

And gues what happens in the event of a claim ?

Yep you'll get a cash payout for the value of a 1.6 non vtec.

Not worth the hassle paying cheap insurance that won't cover you in the event of a claim.

He wont even get that!!!

Yh if the car is not insured proper your insurancd will be void so you will get nothing and will be in trouble for lying to your insurance, and im sure it will put a black mark down on your name for future companys same with engine conversions and un-registered mods, if you have an accident or need to claim ect they dont want to pay you so will look over everything to get away

Bad move, insure it properly otherwise if you crash you won't get paid out

As others have said its now a mugs game to insure your car incorrectly.

Look at it this was the only way insurence companys make any money is when you pay and never claim. Any way a company can find to get out of paying they will and they are VERY good at it.
