That's looking wicked mate, bet your glad to do something other than engine stuff to this. Tbh fia approved harnesses are good enough for me regardless of where it's made and this look pretty decent.
 
@LoganK the harnesses are £100 from jjc race and rally. They are perfect if your not into the whole JDM thing and just want something safe and relatively cheap...

Yeah I'm happy doing other bits as it seems like the cars actually developing you know?

@irf yeah engine turned up.
My wifi dropped out(couldn't get pictures off photobucket) so had to just post half my update until it came back.
So there is alittle more to the update if you wanted to have a look.

Got the head off the new engine and I'm about ready to put my ek9 head on it.
Maybe have an engine in the car tomorrow but we'll see.
 
Yeah I'm the same with stuff like that. Rather spend £100 on a FIA harness than £250 on a takata that does the same job!

Yeah if I was well off I would have the takatas just because I could easily afford them. But sadly that's not the case lol so Taiwanese harnesses it is lol

Yeah I don't see what's so special about takatas lol any plain black FIA approved ones will do me fine.

Random question, where did you get the little recaro pads for the bolsters? Cheers!
 
eBay dude, they are fakes but I couldn't find genuine ones and only wanted to protect the bolsters when getting in and out like..
Yeah I hope so too. Am I foolish for hoping for "fit and forget" from this engine?
 
Not foolish at all man you must be due some trouble free driving with this now.... How did you get on today with it ?
 
Engine and box are in.
Gearbox was a right ball ache to fit. No location dowels on the block and for some reason it just wouldn't sit on properly.
Managed to tease it on with alittle tension on the bolts(not good practice) but I think the bolts had been over tightened before and I've managed to pull the threads clean out of two of the gearbox bolts whilst I was tightening them down. Will get a tap and try and sort it out in situe. I'm 95% that it will hold up fine anyway.
I've got all gears and the clutch appears to work so should be ok only issue could be the pilot bearing in the flywheels been pushed out. Will make a nice racket if it has and I'll know what it is so just a gamble I suppose.

Just gearbox brace, driveshafts, turbo system, fill up oils and coolant then should be good to give it a test run.
Hopefully it will go smoother tomorrow and I'll be able to say I've got a working car again.

B18c4 bottom end
Arp head studs
B16b head

Ah cool, any chance you could fire up a link? Couldn't find them, clearly being a mong and not searching the right thing! Yeah I'm the same, the price of a new cover and cushion set is more than I got the seat for!

Nah fingers crossed this one all works out! Any progress today?
 
Apologies if you've already mentioned it but where did you buy those harnesses and how much were they? Would like some 3 inchers for mine if they are sensibly priced

Rain and winds here ATM but I'll power on and hopefully finish it today, if not then tomorrow
 
Been out just now.
It's very quiet on boost which is strange, can't be a bad thing though.
Oil pressure doesn't seem to reach more than 70psi, is this normal on a c4?
The mechanical gauge seems alittle slow to react which is dissapointing tbh.
Will give the engine bay a once over tomorrow to check everything is still right And not leaking etc.
