So as you are probably aware, the price of ek9's has come right down.

Is this the general market for cars at the mo?

I know it's a buyers market ect but i can remember a year ago a decent one would set you back 6k, now you can pick one up for 4.5 -5k!

Do you lot think the price of them will ever go back up?

Or will they rust to the ground before that happens?

Just curious is all :)

The more they get wrote off and broke the more the value will go back up but the more they are imported over the less they will cost I reckon could be wrong!!

Don't worry about the price, just enjoying owning them!

Still not bad for circa 10year old cars

Don't know what it is about Ireland but ek9's go for peanuts across there. I've been tempted a few times to get the ferry over and pick up one for under 3k.

over here they are worth noting.. Its really sicking. Lot of rough ones though. I sold my very clean one for €4700 and at that people were saying I did well to get that much

Over the last 3 years or so of being on here, I have seen that said more than a few times, or something very similar, and the trend of the market is still down.

On top of that, fuel is about to hike up to £1.50 or more in the coming year, and insurance has also gone up a lot, so, again, I stick by my position that they will be down to £3000 territory in the near future.

EK4 can be seen at £1200 now AND EP3'S AT £3000...its only a matter of time.

this make me sick :angry2:

Sold my black 97 EK9 late last year for around £3800, would have been worth at least £4500 a year ago and TBH I think in the last 2/3 months prices have gradually went up! Will struggle to find one in UK for under £4000 now....

It's only a Civic, it is not immune to depreciation.

I think if you have a mint 9, and stick to your guns you can get a reasonable price.

here in South Africa, they go for about R60000 or roughly 4000 GBP odd.... they still keep a fair value over here. of course we have those who have modded them out and look imacculate with new paint jobs, builts motors etc etc and try get an extra 1000GBP odd but yea. finding a decent one over here for a decent price is tricky.

edit // when i say they, i dont mean Ek9's... i meant Ek4 Vtecs... i think you know them as the Vti's??

i think unfortunately neil its a sign of the times and not only for ek9s but all cars. it doesnt make it any easier as well with rising insurance premiums especially on imports so less people are able to insure them nowadays as well. i couldnt believe how cheap i had to sell my b18d 9 in the end went for peanuts with all the goodies as well.

as said just enjoy driving it and dont worry about its depreciation

You know it's all because of rising insurance road tax and petrol its far too expensive and people can't afford it so cars with engine over 1.6 are now wanted anymore.

The complete car market has dropped, not just our beloved civics :(.

Yep its the same with most cars, you can pick up a E46 M3 for 5k-6k.

Just enjoy your ownership! Fcuk all the rest :)

I am not alone in saying this but EK9's are overpriced and have been for a long time!

To be honest they have actually held there value very well. A friend of mine said they aren't really worth that much in Japan but of course import prices and dealers profits means the price at the UK is much more expensive than it initially would be value'd at. To be honest if you compare the for sale section from now > 1-2 years ago the value has not dropped that much. People are still selling there EK's for 5-8k. with a completely standard 9 going for 4.5k - 5.8k on avg. Compared to other car's like the EP and new civic the depreciation is quite good on a nine especially for it being a 10-13 year old car.

Low Mileage minters still get the £££ same goes for 98spec tegs with low mileage, Looking at 6k AT LEAST,

All i see it as is even more reason not to sell it and keep pouring money into it, Ill never get back what i've paid so may aswell just keep on building :D

agree 100%
would never sell my ek9 anyway so doesn't really bother me
it not only the price but the overall condition of the ek9s in ireland that annoys me. Be prepared for anything if your coming over:nerv:
