2nd EG6 SiR on Isle Of Man.

Tbh that list of stuff is petty.

The only thing out of that list that would seriously concern me is the rust forming under the tape.

This.

To be honest you should have asked Honda to make you a new EG that way it would have been perfect as you have super duper high standards..

I hope you enjoy that EG6 man and I'm regretting:(( selling it now

Think you have gotten confussed somewhere along the lines here. I didn't buy the car!

For People to try and say the issues mentioned may not be legitimate, I really don't see where you would get the reasoning for that. As to point out Im making money on everyone of these faults as Im the mechanic fixing them. Im actually gaining in a way so why would I lie??.....

I posted the faults because someone asked me why I said you don't get what you pay for. Which is true!!

If you say you had the MOT done Legitimately then I would recommend finding a new garage as where ever you took it clearly were not up to the job.

"(Fouled against fuel tank) LOL thats a heatshield for the exhaust mate." Just rubbing the heat sheild?! Really?! A Uk Decat of 17" is 4inches longer than a JDM one of 12". I was amazed to see it was even possible to fit onto a JDM system. The gap between Tank and chassis for the pipe to run is only 4-5". Moving the whole system back 4 inches means you have to force it wedged against the fuel tank. Anyone can do the math.

Also you tried to claim that it is perfectly normal for a short shift to foul on the exhaust, so much to the point of it being hard to get into gear. When the Buyer questioned all these faults you just brushed off as nothing.

Im not here to debate a sale or anything of the sort, as that is down to you and the buyer. I just thought It would be nice as they asked, for people to know the honest truth from a third party. As it there seems to be allot of discrepancies lately on Cars asking for such high price tags and claiming to be immaculate. People even got threatened to be banned for writing anything about the car being over priced in the for sale thread. Guess alot of people were right.

I purely just hate seeing people done out of their money for things that are clearly not worth it. You can't expect every enthusiast to be a mechanic. A car that is stated 100% should be just that.

In fact I just got a message this after he went to put it through test before I had chance to have a proper look on the ramp and turns out a rear caliper is seized, the cable to it also the steering rack boot split. Most of these faults maybe small but in reality £4500 for a car claiming to one of the best around thats cheap EK9 and half decent DC2 money. Not 80% EG6 with Faults.

If you think about it Im not even doing myself any favours, as if everyone who owned EG6's was selling them like you then the value of mine would rocket.

Everything I said was factual to my own experience as the guy came to me for the work. I only really know him now properly because of him buying the car he was pointed in my direction as the guy over here in the know for Civic's.

Well as it turns out the guy who bought this has lost interest and My better half has bought it as here summer daily.

If I had the cash I would buy it myself but just bought another MX5.

Just so people don't get too depressed I will be bringing this car back up to Real life Mint standards with a few extras along the way. Will be stored throughout winter and only used in the summer.

That was fairly quick .. Glad it's got a new owner .

For a £4500 EG6 with nothing but a spoiler, set of wheels and coilovers I would have expected the high price to be because it would be Immaculately mint. Not for it to turn up with a load of faults to be fixed.

Shame man, Glad its in good hands now :win:

Here's my EG6 i sold, I let it go for under £4000 yet look at the spec list and the condition.. Maybe people should reference car's like this and MarkP's befroe they go sticking a Price tag on it...

Absolutely loved you old EG6.

Hopefully my missus can keep this one mint once we get it.

Shame for the guy but suppose good for me. He just lost interest after finding the faults, as he likes to pay top price for cars so that they don't have stuff that needs fixing on them.

Needs an Exhaust, CV boot, O/S door handle, bit of rust inspection in the side trim holes, get any treated, side trims sprayed and fitted, new decent short shift or OE gear shift, drivers wing resprayedas the scratches are down to metal almost and the other faults that came up on test, rear caliper seized and steering rack boot.

Still yet to check it out thoroughly myself on a ramp. Hopefully won't find much more.

Surly 90's hondas are not the way to go for him then?

Why not?

Always considered 90's Honda's to be some of the most reliable cars made. Thus why I have had tones of them.

A cars condition is only how well it's maintained.

I don't at at all disagree with that. But every car has parts that will wear. You can't buy a car that is 20 years old and expect it to be as solid as a brand new car. I bet all the "mint" cars on here have their problems, whether something as small as the passenger window closing slowly or as big as rust on the inner panels. A mint car from the early 90's is in a completely different league from a mint car thats rolled out the factory, despite using the same descriptive word. To be honest if the guy who sold it was being shady about the questions asked by the guy who bought it then the fault lies with the guy who bought it. Anyone with any sense would have left it if the seller sounded a little dodgy.

O well, look forward to seeing it once you have cleaned it all up. Always had a sweet spot for eg's.

No of course you can't buy a 20 year old car and expect it to be as solid as new. But for Top price like £4500 for an EG6 claiming to be one of the best condition in the UK, I certainly wouldn't expect to have a list of poor maintenance faults.

End of the day the buyer shouldn't have to be a wise mechanically knowledged car inspector just to get a good deal.

He doesn't know much about cars so picked one with a price tag and an advert that looked to be the best around. There was a ton of **** on the forsale thread with people getting ban threats just for claiming it was over priced. Car was even backed up by Mods on here. Which for some reason vanished shortly after sale. Yet now someone bought it and it turns out to have been overpriced and not as good as claimed.

Really to be honest £4500 is probably the most expensive standard B16A EG6 I have ever seen in the last few years. For that money I would expect it to be at least mechanically sound. Not to have a list of test failure faults and stuff bodged on just for the sale like the exhaust was. That was my point.

If your willing to pay £4500 for a pretty much standard EG6 thats supposed to 100% and not be bothered to find a list of faults to fix with it then clearly you have to much money.

Yea would be expected to be rough around the edges If it was a £4000 EK9 or maybe a £2500 EG6. But a £4500 EG6 claiming to be mint?

Absolutely adore eg6's looking forward to seeing this one restored to its former glory. Good luck man.

i noticed that and thought it was strange.

Car looks great from the pics, good to see its getting what it deserves and looking forward to seeing more updates

I dont get how people can claim "its the cleanest eg6, ek9, dc2 etc in the uk" ... have they seen every other within the uk to make that claim lol?

good luck!

Just back from picking it up. After being raised 15mm alround few weeks back to stop the tyres rubbing with more than just a driver in it, Still too low, was unable to get it into the garage. Will have to raise it more tomorrow. Also turns out to have no handbrake at all. Cables seem fine must be 2 knackerd calipers.

Will get some photos up of when we are selecting what wheels to put it on. Wife doesn't like the Advans so I am taking them. Got a choice of some 15" silver rota Circuit 10's, white Dynamics Pro Race 1's, white League 111R's or a set of 16" gold BBS RG309's. Hoping she likes the Rota's or league's as I am not keen on letting her loose on my mint Pro Race 1's or BBS's haha.
