i have a ek9,

5zigen 4-2-1 headers
spoon direct flow pipe with spoon drop in filter in the box
VAFC II
and apexi noir catback system.

if i put an 4.78 FD is this going to help me ?

First of all, help you do what? What is it you need it to help you with?

I just done mine today along with a ITR LSD, i swapped out my Kaaz LSD just cos the final gear did not fit.
Is there a difference? Hell yeah, better than adding **** loads of money for engine mods ..

You'll probably find the ITR LSD better for day to day street driving. Plus there is no maintenance :)

Assuming you want your car to be faster..

Yes,

The 4,78 final drive will help your car accelerate faster.

for Drag purpose. here in Panama are 2 EK9's only, and the other one have 4.78 FD and its faster than mine

top job fitting 4.7 final drive , fit a lightened fly wheel as well. if the cars only used for drag racing go for the 4.9 final drive.:nice:

Let's say afte fitting the 4.7 my car is so much more fun to drive and acceleration is superb, I am trying to get used to the 4000rpm 70MPH cruising but it's ok though. You just feather the throttle and it accelerates from 70MPH pretty quickly

what is the top speed with a 4.7 FD?

the lack of top speed is the only thing that puts me off tbh.

Yeh iv just played around with that.

For a ITR engine and box, it has a 4.78 FD standard yeh?

So with the 4.928, which only seems to reduce the speed in everygear by 2mph, apart from 5th where it is reduced by 5mph, how much would the accelaration be increased by? Would it be very noticable?

The EUDM ITR (and JDM '98 ITR's) have the 4.785 FD, yes.

There is around a 3% increase in torque with the 4.928. Is it noticeable? slightly, but not by much.

What about the 4.78 final gear?
What is the increase in torque?

Very noticeable. Feels like a bigger engine or a lighter car.
I have reached top speed ever...hmmm...never actually, no where here to do it safely. But the 5th gear is so much more useful now for 15mph and up i do not need to change gears in town which is pretty nice. I have a heavier car than the 9, so you will probably feel a more drastic change.

I`ve read somewhere in here before that depending on the tranny, a 4,785 FD isn`t a fit n go, and 1st gear needs changing as well? Not sure though.

edit: s4c mod to f/d have a look at this thread.

I have fitted it with a 1st gear and yes it is not a fit and go. You could easily get a fit and go from Mfactory, then you don;t need to even change your LSD. For the price I think it's worth it compared to buying a complete ITR box just for the components!

if it's for drag man go with the 4.928 accleration is unreal, if you use it as daily driver on motorway etc i would recommend 4.785:nice: and change your flywheel to a lightened one while you have the box out:secret:

my 1.6vti (EK4) is non lsd s4c tranny :(( and planning to fit the ITR 4.785 fd in it. some says, i do need at least an oem lsd to fit the fd in, and some says, it should be fine to just plug n play.all the items, 1st gear, collar, counter shaft, ring gear and 2 bearings are all complete.

hope any other fellow friends who encounter the same question before could leave some comments.:secret:

cheers!!:drive:
