was thinking of goin dc2 and jus wondering if owners, past owners could give me there experience on reliability, performance, general info, how far ahead and behind they are of ek9s in a straight line? And which is quicker 96 or 98 spec? On paper 98 spec seems quicker due to final drive and manifold but is also heavier and larger wheels so maybe people have had reverse experiences of 96 spec being quicker? Thanks guys

This is an EK9 forum so people will be biased. The 98 spec is slightly quicker than the 96 but is not noticeable on the public road. The DC2's engine has more torque than the ek9 so it will be quicker in a straight line.

Take a look at this video for the differences between the 96 and 98 spec.

YouTube - honda integra type r dc2 96 vs 98

If you have a search around this forum you will find that most of the questions you will ask will be covered.

98 spec over 96 any day due to everything in my eyes looks brakes engine the only thing the 96 spec has over the 98 spec is weight

thanks for your views as always guys! Ya 98 spec is far better equipped bt as always this leads 2 weight:( thats why ya gota love the ef9:) bt ya guys anymre knowledge or experiences with dc2's?

my brother has a dc2...

take a look at both you will always pick the 98 spec well i no i would lol.

the weight between the 96 spec and the 98spec is next to none

the weight is 50kg or so i think making the 98 spec 1100kg! Ya the only thing i dont like abot the 98 spec are the 16 inch alloys! Is it possible to put aftermarket 5stud alloys on to the 98 spec or is 16inch as small as you can go due to the increase in brake disc size?

98 spec every time if you think about it. Although for the money ul save buying a 96 spec you could just spend back on the car to make it slightly better than 98 spec.
98spec is a nicer looking car with the rear bumper and wheels aswell imo.

The thought often passes through my head to p/x my ek9 for a 98 spec because of the tempation of the extra power but all in i think id always regret it as the integras interior in particulay is fairly dated. B18C EK9 is the ULTIMATE as many will agree

ya 98 spec integra is tempting:) the pinacle of the fwd world really! Not sure wat car to get next really? Would like an evo bt fuel and runing costs would break my heart!

what about the ukdm dc2 they look good good price and just as good or even better ?

I used to have a B18'ed EK9 & i now drive a 99 UKDM DC2

I have a mate with a JDM 98 spec DC2 & i also have a mate with a 99 EK9

My mates 98 spec is slightly quicker than my teg & my teg is slightly quicker than my mates EK9. (this all being in a stright line)

But out of all three i would have the EK9 every day of the week, for looks/handling & the fun factor of driving it!:drive:

Reliability - Well its a Honda with a B series, so as long as it has been well maintaned & looked after you cant go wrong really!

My DC2 is on 138,000 miles & still drives like new, gearbox is crisp with no crunch's or wines, the engine is sweet as a nut pulls very strong & uses no oil at all!:D

IMHO a B18'ed EK9 is the best of both worlds, but then agen i am biased as i am a EK9 nut!:naughty:

I think the ukdm dc2 has less hp :))

Yes you are correct mate they are about 190bhp were as the JDM's are around 200bhp:nice:

Well like JIMBOB mentioned reliabilty its a Honda.
Depeding on your budget aswel.
I will def prefer a 98spec due to bigger brakes/easier to find 5x114 wheels/manifold/suspension etc

I test drove a couple of tegs before getting my ek9. I only looked at 98 spec and that was purely because of the bigger brakes and it's a newer model.
BMI do a 1/4 mile race between a 96 and a 98 spec teg and they cross the line at the same time. That all comes down to the gear ratios afaik.
Faster than a ek9? In a straight line yes. I've been beaten by a few and that was one of the reasons why I went down the b18 route.
Price wise I think they are a very good buy for what they can do and as much as I love my ek9 I think tegs are better value for money.
