Anyone shed any light on what could be in my box??

The box came second hand built from Japan with unknown mods.
Maxed out at 128.4 on the vbox, bouncing off the limiter in 5th.
Obviously a shorter final drive but can anyone help what one ect?

4.9? Spose you'll have to open it up to know for sure
 
Whats the limiter at and what size tyres?

I'd imagine it has a gearkit at 128 in 5th...

with a bit of patience should be able to work it out with the mfactory calculator.


it's not a massive job to split the box open, the time consuming bit is getting it off the car. can have it opened and closed in about an hour.
 
Stock Ek9 box with 4.9FD and 8k limit.

1st - 34
2nd - 52
3rd - 75
4th - 99
5th - 129

By gearset you mean totally different gears?
FD is one cog right?
 
As said above, you most Likly have a 4.9fd and due to your lower rev limit that's why your hitting 130max.

Not with the 8k limit... you can tell there is no gear kit in it by the drop between shifts in the vid...

Like I said, with 195 50's (a smaller rolling radius than stock) and the lower 8k limit, he is hitting 129 on the limiter. You will be hitting 140+ due to your higher rev limit and possibly a bigger tyre?
 
Yes I'm going back to 55 tyres as its too short, and doesn't need to be so short with the high power and tq
 
Will upload a decent vid Monday. I've noticed from 4th to 5th there's less than 1000 rpm drop so 4th may be modded
 
If anything it would be 5th that was modded (shorter) but it dosent sound like it to me....

is that gps tested? this sounds like my 4.9 final drive altho mine revs more,and mine reads on the dials over 130-140 but with the final drive it throws the speedo out,lee id say its a 4.9 as long as it goes ok id leave it be
