Anyone had any hands on experience with these? Reason being the Mrs has hinted she 'might' get me 1 for Christmas (it's creeping up!) but I'm not sure about these things? It wont be 1 with 3G, just Wi-Fi.

Alternatively, she'd be buying me stuff for the 9 :naughty:

Apple haters can also put their input :D

have you seen that new software they are inputting in the iphones 4's and ipads?

if apple feel that you are jailbreaking your phone/ipad they will take a flashless image of yourself (so you dont no its been taken) a voice record and sent back to apple and they can permantly block/ban you from all there products :O

Ha really??? That's quite extreme & hilarious tbh!

i cant see a programme that makes apps/purchases Free legal ? :S ill get the link when i get home from work about this new thing that apple are doing with the jail broken phones/pads

Hasn been approved they is huge legal reasons why they cant do it, they say will be 3-4 years before implementation

At that just cover the camera

Yes jailbreaking is legal have it done on all my devices, ipad are expensive but they are handy to have around the house

can you explain how breaching the "legal" policy of apple is legal ?

apparently its going to be flashless so you dont no when its being taken :nono:

i really doubt that is going to happen in near future, very big legal issues with, there is no way they would be allowed to do it.

I had a little play around with it, and its nice thing to have on your coffee table to check emails, surf the web, light tasks like reading, but thats it. there is no other practical use for it really. Basicly its just another media outlet and pointless, unless you really into your mac stuff .

Since you invited apple haters here I am :D

Lol thats hilaroious I can image that there are some legal issues with jail breaks, but I hope apple shoots themselves in the foot with this and they loose a lot of sales because of it. I am in no way in support of illegal downloads of any kind and I buy programs and music etc insupport of the devlopers that have made a good product.

I am not an Apple fan tho and it pains me to admit I have an I-pod I would much rarther have a better music quality device but the fact my cars head unit was ipod ready means it would be silly for me not to have one.

I would definatly vote for EK9 parts instead i-pads probably do have some cool functionality I cant think of that many though, the fact that you can get apps to digitaly purchase and read newspapers and magazines is probably the only thing i would use one for but all in Id rarther have a net book than an i-pad beacause you could have mobile internet for a hell of a lot less and uploading images in the field/track/event is rarther awesome but I dont personally feel the need for either one myself but it depends what you do.

Basically I agree with smokymo and the usage he mentions I already do quite often on my phone, Andriod FTW :D (yep I deliberatly want you to know its not apple :p)

I Jay un jailbroke mine as I heard it was a serious breach in apples use policy plus it's not all that anyway it slows the phone down wifi is slow and sometimes won't connect at all and it let going into a "safe mode" with a pic of a sad iPhone on it that was abit scary, my boss still has his done and he's not really bothered he loves his gagets though lol.

I think people are getting confused between the difference between apple policy and law

Yes jailbreaking your device will affect the warranty and apple don't have to legally replace broken devices.

On the other hand jailbreaking as an activity isn't illegal, as long as you don it on a personal level i.e. dont set up a jailbreaking business

Matt-ek9. I have an iphone and ipod because one of the leaders in terms of smart phone (note I didn't day the best, depends what you want your device to do)

PS always support the developer cracked apps are illegal and people should be prosecuted

I jailbroke my iphone 4 and so far ive had no problems.

As for all the talk of software to ban you from all apple products i'd take it with a pinch of salt. Sounds like something a 13 year old came up with whislt claiming msn messenger and facebook will require subscriptions.
Jailbreaking is legal (at least in the US) but it will 100% void you warranty; luckily you can back up your iOS device to get it back to normal if anything goes wrong.

As for using them, they're nice!
For me it sure has changed the way i surf the web now!

Amen to all of the above, especially the reason why you own apple devices.

Its about getting what you want from something and thats not always the best for each person, I dont claim Google Android to be any better its definatly floored in many ways. Especially in that if you compare Apps availble with Apple then Hands down Apple store is a winner.

I just dislike the fact that its become fashion and people are buying it because its apple not always because it does eveything they need the best. (I suppose you could say this about certain JDM brands I will admit I'm guilty of brand whoreing to an extent but there is also a difference in Legit and Fake but thats another story)

Jailbreaking is a way to customise your i-phone and break from Apples restrictions on what they want people running on there devices (another reason I dislike apple) I think this is why its be declared Legal unfortunatly like many things torrents, P2P file sharing etc it can be used for darker purposes.

Apoligies to OP for changing the tpoic of this thread slightly.

I cant fully agree with this myself; yes okay in terms of downloading music and apps for free.

But personally i jailbroke my iphone so i could do things on it that apple have 'restricted'. . . things that most phones have been able to do for years now.

@ ryan

totally agree and so did the OP he never targets jail breaking as being wrong just the fact that some people abuse the freedom that it brings.

Apple has caused this problem by being too over restrictive as you say leading people to jail break and opening a bigger hole for copyright breeches.
