dont supose anyone knows anything about the Y21 box?
 
What exactly would you like to know about the Y21? It's similar to the S4C in terms of gearing but some Y21s had factory LSDs.
 
Iam enquiring into a B16 swap. The seller says the gearbox is out of a EK9 but the engine code is Y21 and comes with a LSD
 
Of the few B16B swaps I have seen the transmissions were all stamped with S4C. I'd ask members with real EK9s to see if that's something they can confirm.
 
All EK9's come with an S4C Gearbox as stock...Y21 box never came in the EK9!

Im just about to buy a 00 EK9, and selling my 98 EK4.
How can i tell whats the gerabox the car has?

im using s80 96 gearbox now to my ek's.
Its fit with 4.7 FD...
my question is .. how to check/test my LSD without open is to pieces...

by now im just check by litfup my front tyre and turn on my engine and enggage the 1st gear..

- both tyre not roll at the same time

im tested 16a LSD gearbox (jdm standard) too but both tyre were rolling at the same time.

Its is my S80 gearbox broken or just helical working like that?

The EK9 comes with a S4C gearbox, with a 4.40 final drive with helical LSD :)

Drag race your car, if you see both tires move with the same speed + strength you have a LSD :)

Lifting up the car and engage 1st gear will not give a good reference if your car has LSD since both tires will move.

im just tested my car on drag...
i flew straight without problem... and no shifting to left/right.

...how S80 helical LSD work ?
did anyone have a technical drawing for this type of gearbox.?
 
ive got a b16b gearbox coming at the end of the month:D
reconditioned, 0 miles £650 fitted with 2 years warrenty:D
spot on! but the only thing is im not completly sure they know what i was on about when i ordered it:nerv: im going to ring them up and see if its got the right number on it

how much more of a difference will it make compaired to my stock b16a2 gearbox, will it be noticable?
 
i have a b16b ctr tranny on my all motor gsr and its way better then a gsr tranny or any other i pick up my rpm's way faster and the lsd gets me out the hole fast at 80 mph im at 5200 rpms track time 12.100 at 108 mph all motor ek coupe full intirior

End of the 3rd gear the car wil go about 140Kph. Until you shift to 4, the car will be faster than with the S4C gearbox?

i'm doing the B18C Swap next month coming from a B16B. So very interested in this subject!
 
Sorry to bring ths thread alive, but i have a question.
When i got my car, it was supposed to have the LSD (its a ek4 converted to a ek9). The thing is that the stamp on the box was all faded, so i never got to see if it has the lsd.
So now, on saturday, while installing my spoon calipers, spinned the right side wheel forward and the left did the same (i had read before that if the car had lsd the other wheel should turn the other side). After that i started to worry, and just read this.
As i did in neutral, should i do this on 4th gear or on any gear?
How can i confirm I have LSD without getting the axles off?

Thanks, hope someone can clarify this to me. Im investing in the car, and hpe i dont have a surprise on this.

i got a B20 vtec in a EG and found a S9B box..will that work well??motor has a bit of work done
