Anyone tried this set-up?

What things do I need to change on my b16a head and block?

Current set-up:

CTR Cams
ITR valvetrain(valvesprings & retainers)
4-1 mugen headers
Buddyclub pro spec 2 full catback system
apexi air filter

You need a fully mappable ECU to cope with almost 12:1 compression.

Is there any problem on clearance, on the valves and the pistons?

I was thinking of doing this before having a rechipped ecu plus tuning

why dont you put teg ones in?? i have a set for sale pm me....

i have 81.5mm b16b pistons (nippon) on my b16a2.

if your thinking off doing it throw in ek9/dc2 cams also and as said get it mapped.

give me good increase in torque and gains in mid range.

my bottom end may be for sale soon :)

i think the b16a2 rods needed a slight skim just for the pistons but im not
100% sure.

if your head has not been skimmed much you should have plenty of clearance
with the b16b pistons.

As mentined b16a rods need machining to fit PCT pistons, only very slightly...

Your C/R will be 11.9:1 providing you use OEM gasket and your head has not been skimmed.

You will def need remap to avoid detonation.

Great upgrade... I intend to do it on my spare b16a block.

as said i looked into this with ITR pistons, you need to skim a few thou of the rods

You should be fine with a b16a head as the b16b head has been milled down a lot more to allow a higher compression.

After all this cash and fcuk arising about why not just flog you b16a and buy a second hand b16b for 1k! Job done!

agreed...

16A/B heads are dimensionally similar.

The 16B's higher compression comes from its super domed pistons.

bump on this, any more info on it??

does the b16a block need to be bored to fit standard ek9 pistons??
if the head is being skimmed by 10thou would there be clearance issues then??

Rods need to have 1mm shaved off either side when fitting pct pistons to 16a rods.
No, not if the pct pistons are standard bore size(81mm)

so there would be no issues apart from gettin the rods shaved, and of coarse a proper map?!

thanks for that man, i might look into so
