Hi Guys,

one of my mates has had a bit of an accident in his DC2 and sadly done too much damage to warrant a repair.

So we were chatting about me having the engine off him and putting it in my 9 to give him some money back towards a new car. :nice:

What do we need to take out of the DC2... (Block, Gearbox...)

What other parts are essential to purchase for the swap... (Aftermarket ECU or will the 9 one work?)

You will need to use your engine loom on the b18 and then you can use your ecu. The engine and box will drop right in. I think you have to change one mount from your engine not 100% on that though I am sure some one on here will clarify that.

b16b ecu is not ideal for a b18c engine, get a conversion harness and run the b18c ecu,,

If its 96spec DC2 going into prefacelift EK9 it is plug and play because IIRC they are both OBD2

also if teh teg is UK spec then you willl have an imobiliser coded to the key..........

b16b ecu is not ideal for a b18c engine, get a conversion harness and run the b18c ecu,,

If you use a fully mappable ECU like the Hondata and then go B18C, if you stick with the B16B loom, you could re-use the fully mappable ECU on the B18C yeah?

You will need to use your b16b passenger side mount and I think also the rear mount.

Im bringing up this thread from the dead,

As im now looking into plans for a B18C conversion i would like some solid facts....

What EXACTLY is needed for the conversion?

*Wiring loom from B18C,

*ECU even though i will eventually be going Hondata,

*What engine mount exactly? And are these mounts easy to fetch? where would i get it from?

Anything else i will need to know?

Thanks

Rite these are the fact's of what you need to do the swap!

You just need the B18 engine

You will use your EK9 wiring loom!

B18 ECU or after market - Hondata!(may need a conversion harness for the
ECU depending on what you run now obd2a or obd2b)

Just use the engine mounts that are in your car now, you dont have to get any new one's unless your's are gone! If so then you just buy mount's for a EK9!

It is that simple guy's!!!!!!!!!!:nice:

No prob mate, glad to help!!!!:nice:
Trust me it is worth every single penny doing the B18 swap, especially with Hondata & a custom WILL tune!!!!!:secret:

Hmm..think I'll save this thread in my fav's!

I'm going to get some over time in..this swap seems pretty straight forward. Better start saving!

B16b ECU will underfuel the B18 causing it to be low on power and eventually overexpand the pistons/ use shedloads of oil and drop alot of compression

b16b ecu is not ideal for a b18c engine, get a conversion harness and run the b18c ecu,,

Top Man; speaking sense

I remove these for a fee when you can prove the source of the ecu. When I remove this you dont get any error codes :nice:

Yes its re-useable, doesnt really matter which harness out of the two your usings, better to get one with the engine anyway.

You will need to use your b16b passenger side mount and I think also the rear mount.

Just use all the EK9 engine mounts and itll fit perfect :nice:

Maybe this guy is talking EK swap rather than EK9 swap or something?

Why would'nt it fit ? Its the same engine ! just diffrent internals.
