B18 Swap - what do I need?

Sorry to bring this one back up but i have decided i am going b18c instead of going fi.

I have a 1999 ek4 civic jordan, how do i stand with regards to wiring, will the b18c just use my loom and will the b18c ecu fit straight to it... not 100% but i think im obd2b. If not which harness convertor do i need?

Also will it bolt up to my ek4 mounts? Any other problems with the facelft ek4 i should know?

Help me out guys please :woot:

Just to let you guys know, there is actually something you need to swap from the B16B to the B18C.

It's on the passenger side of the engine, it's like a 2 pinned type of folk that attaches to the engine mount. This is what you need to change, no the mounts themselves.

Yes you will just use your loom!

The B18C ecu wont plug into you car because you are correct yours is obd2b & the B18C ecu is obd2a!
So you need a obd2b>obd2a convertion harness!
Or better still get HONDATA s300 which use's obd2a (so will plug stright into your car) then you can get the best out of your B18C will a propper MAP!:p

Yes your EK4 mounts will bolt stright up no prob

You are talking about the part of the engine mount that bolts to the engine it's self, inbetween the timing belt(with the two bolts that go through the mout itself)????

Then yes you are right there GEE!!!!!
Good to point that one out mate!

dean_gti Same goes for you mate just use yours off your B16A2!:D

Jimbob you are the man , I may go for the s300 and stick a few parts on before hand as no doubt thats what id be doing to it before long anyway.

Sorry to drag this up but thought i would keep it all in one place..

So i'm thinking of a dropping a b18c into my ek4 sir. Just wanted to know if my ek loom would work with out having to cut any wires? I'm going to keep my box and bolt it on the block. i've read the thread and i gather from that it is just b16 out b18 in plug in all the bits and away we go? Sorry for the noobness of this post lol

Cheers

Dan

Your loom will be fine.

And if your car is a 96-98 which Im thinking it is, then the ITR ecu will plug straight in too.

So really it's just block/ECU/head gasket/head bolts then.

Toying with swapping pistons and crome but see what happens over the next 2 months.

i know this conversion has been done alot of time but is that much quicker with the b18 R engine? coz i'm hoping to do either the b20 or b18 and need more info on comparing the both engine

Well from what I recall B18 would be more reliable, rev higher safely and easier to drop in than a B20.

In terms of on paper!
Hear is my dyno sheet of B16B - B18C Comparison! (same car same mod's just the B18 is diffrent)

In terms on on the road!
I ran a 15.3 1/4 mile @ santa pod with the B16B
I then ran a 13.9 1/4 mile @ santa pod with the B18C
(again same car, same mod's just B18 is diffrent)

Hope that help's you understand a bit more!:D

Correct on everything you have said there mate!:nice:

So from what I am gathering from reading all this. The Facelift (98 onwards) Ek9 doesnt need a conversion harness if running a B18C and using a DC2 ECU but the prefacelift does?

Just making sure as I am doing a B18C conversion on my friend s EK9 soon.

The other way round mate!
Pre-facefilt is OBD2a & so is ITR DC2

Facelift EK9 is OBD2B

Sorry but your wrong there mate!:secret:
