b18c running lean (dyno pic added)

How many of us have this happen to us lol. Thats saved a load of cash on engine mods...

Interesting thread and some usefull information :)

I am having a similar issue but I need to get an AFR reading on my car first and take it from there, this thread will hopefully answer some questions i'm likely to face..

@ deb1991 as mentioned already daz @ DNR and Romain have had nothing but positive feedback I know i'll be contacting either one of those two when I come to get mine remapped :)

as previously mentioned i might put a fpr on and raise the pressure and get the afr read. or just take it to daz to get it remapped on chrome pro. heard bad and good things about chrome pro...

Ectune is supposed to be good? Romain is the man for that but I think Daz can do that also.

Ectune & Neptune are brilliant software if you not one of there "i must have a s300" people.

Looking at the lambda readings, I don't see it running lean up top, it looks like your air/fuel values jump around quite a bit through the midrange though. Also looks like your VTEC engagement (and possibly some timing changes) should be adjusted. I'd suggest leaving your stock fuel pressure regulator on there and installing a socketed P28 with Either Neptune RTP, Hondata S300, or atleast a chip tuned/programmed with Crome... Then have it tuned and your problem is solved the right way.

Haha no way that's STD internals!!
My b20 vtec has toda pistons and cams and makes 224hp and 158!

And that's from 2L.

yep, i think the rmf has caused a big power gain, great manifolds. going to enquire about a remap now, any reccomendations on who to choose?
Rember a STD b18 dynode nowadays would not get over 190 in the real world. More like 185. You won't get 20 hp from a mani!!

most standard b18c's with i/h/e see 200bhp after mapping according to a few tuners ive spoke to

need to get mine done soon

tell thats to Bisimoto ;) they get near enough 18 BHP with one of there manifolds. don't forget this guy might have been on a generous dyno :)

Good point, he seems to have a good engine there though

hi, yeah i think the dyno figures are a bit "happy", ill most likely get the car dynoed again once the afr is sorted and see what it pushes then...so does no 1 reccomend buying a vafc2, adjustable fpr and sort the fuelling out that way, i know a lad who knows his stuff with hondas that will sort that out for me instead of getting it tuned. too many peopl telling me different things!

 don't buy a VAFC2 to tune your AFR :nono:

can you comment further mate? need help understanding why, from the research i done, alot of people do it in the states, and some lads around here do that...thanks

IIRC for fuel tables on the VAFC2 are 8x8 meaning that you cant fine tune!

If your only wanting to tidy up the fuelling then a adjustable FPR and Vafc/Neo will suffice obviously a mapped ecu would be better than a piggyback so all depends what your budget is. The Vafc II has 12 points of fuel correction and Neo 16points, you'll want to raise the fuel pressure till you get in the region of where you want to be then just use the air/fuel controller to fine tune

thats correct, my budget isnt really that big, and the guy who i would be taking it to has done it before, so he knows his stuff. i just want the vehicle not running lean at all...

Well that's the cheapest option for you then going fpr and vafc. Pick up a second hand vafc II for 80pounds
