so as some might know ive been building my car up over the last few years. last year i took the plunge and decided to go boosted B18 over a K-swap as i'd had other boosted cars before. but since july last year my car has covered 3000miles. it seems that when ever it goes out on the road or track something breaks. first to go was the manifold which i had rewelded, then i did 2sets of driveshafts, then the lower ball joints went. that brought me up to the MOT...... everthing was fine except my buddyclub racer spec dampers were blown to bits sooooo i brought new ones. went to pick my car up only to discover my manifold has cracked again in 2places so came home without it.
i went to pick it up last friday. on saturday i noticed oil on the drive, so after further inspection ive discovered that oil is pissing out of the sump gasket. so the car is now back of the road as i cant afford to do it.

i think im getting to the point where im going to give up. get another car for running around in, something slightly more reliable.
this year i was ment to spend all summer on track, my last day on track was the HOT day in march.

sorry rant over.

chin up bud ^ thats what modding cars is all about

what drive shafts did you use ? ebay?

and theres always next year to track the hell out of it :nice:

ye mate chin up.

the extra stress that ur car is putting on them used parts will cause them to fail quicker.

thing is tho

ball joints - £10 each and couple hours with ur mates
sump gasket - £30 and hour or so
drive shafts - £100 or so for brand new ones with warranty

its the little jobs that become annoying i know believe me, but i bet it makes u ****ing giggle everytime your out in it!!

chin up and carry on, if ur manifold keeps giving you trouble try having some supports made instead of just re-welding it everytime.

Nuno.

Yeah dude, chin up, am sure once it's sorted youl love it again....

On THE other hand:p I do still have an amazin k20a full swap into The ek9 shell for sale:p

I've been there before. Sometimes it's just not worth the hassle.

Easily worth the hassle for those small jobs. I've had more than that to do on my daily in the last year just to keep it on the road.

Once you've got it all fixed and enjoyed a couple of track days you'll be glad you stuck with it.

I wish it was that cheap!! £70 on rca's(extended ball joints,) ive spent nearly £1000 on drive shafts, hopefully the ones i have now wont go(hopefully)
And then with other stuff i have to pay people to do it as i dont have the equipment or time, the manifold has been braced and it still went, honestly its like i drive it once then its off yhe road for 3months. Hopefully when this latest red mist has cleared i'll fall in love with it all again, but for the min my cars going away, i cant afford to continue building it when i want to save abit as well.

That really sucks mate :( Wish you all the best with your car.

wow uve spent £1000 on drive shafts?? u kidding?? feel bad for ya :(

J&R driveshafts 100 odd quid are epic, and 2 year warranty, they dont even ask if ur car is boosted, just send back under warranty.

manifold must be poopoo if it keeps cracking even with bracing on it.

keep it buddy, u will regret it otherwise.

Nuno.

I've always had the outlook that if the pain and misery outweigh the fun then I make necessary changes, be it specific parts, or the car itself. If fear/dread creep to mind whenever you push the loud pedal then it's not worth it. Hope it all works out whatever you do!

Ha ha i wish i was kidding. ive gone thro 2sets of standard driveshafts(2nd hand £200 a throw) now im on Mfactory 450bhp rated which were £620.

the manifold is a go-autoworks from america, an exact copy of the fullrace ramhorn manifold and they have had good reviews!!!

anyway the car is back in the garage being fixed. fingers crossed hey.

oh also dispite it dragging me down sometime i really wouldnt sell it, ive had mates sell up and there all back in hondas again and i told them they would regret it. and the money ive put in the thing, well..... shes for keeps really.

My Civic was off the road for 23 months getting the engine rebuilt. So many people were asking me if i was not getting annoyed with how long it was taking and such but i never lost faith and ones the car was on the road everything single day it was off the road was worth it. All i'm saying really is just keep at it and the day everything is working it will be more than worth it.

I also have a B18 turbo :nice:

My worst decisions I've made with my cars, where taken when I was disillusioned.

Cheer up, modded cars are like girls, they always **** you over lol !

Take your time, save some money and fix it up! :D

:)

I am almost in the same boat, spent loads on my EK4, not really fixing broke things, just modding it. keep thinking about selling up, but it's not worth enough to bother.

I hope to see yours soon, maybe at snetty again.

I felt the same. Had my car 18 months to get it were its at after being messed about by a number of different people and running into 1000's of problems. Just keep at! Its worth it in the end!

never be a more true senence spoken.

so the car went to the garage. picked it up today. the weather was beautiful here in norfolk so myself and most of the fellow Hlife boys went out for a spirited drive.

Know how you feel mate! im having a bad year too. So far in 2012 ive had to replace front discs and calipers, thermostat, radiator, steering rack, timing belt, and now my rear caliper has seized. Also found a little bit of rust on an arch!
The cars been breaking my heart recently , but at the same time i hopefully have my first trackday in mondello coming up in october and i know i will love it again after that :D

Man my car has been on the drive for 13 months now, just keep plugging away when I can afford it and have the time to work on her. I have only driven it once! I do the job once, and do it right. Everyone saying it's worth the wait is good to hear, gives you the motivation to keep going!
