Black EG6 SiR's New home.

I bought that exhaust from a honda breaker on the forums, lets say I never bought anything from them after.

I had been looking for the caps and nuts for a long time but never found them! If you find them, Have the wheels redone in the same colour and it will be perfect!

That brake pipe issue is very strange, In my ownership I would have swapped the hose out for a new one, or even upgrade to braided lines, but never had it then! It's good you found it now and not later as it would have led to an accident.

I look forward to what you do with it, In my books its the No.1 EG6 SiR-II, in UK :win:

Cool little Civic! I'm really diggin' the Advans and OEM exhaust setup. ;-)

Minor update. Got the car back out of storage. Missus was thinking of using it now and again this summer. Seems the clutch has taken a little funny. Either release bearing or Pressure plate playing up not disengaging clutch so I have booked the ramp to fit a new clutch tomorrow. May aswell give it another service as its been sat a while since jap fest last year. We have Probably not even done 1000miles yet since we have had it. Thought best to give everything a check over and make sure is still all ok.

Have been talking with missus about selling it on as she doesn't like to use it that much in fear of damage or something. Good job as well as she was hit by a van last week in the MB6 scoring and denting the rear door and quarter. I would have been devastated if she was in this. Not sure what to do yet though. I would love to keep it myself but with having over 5 other Project cars this one just sits there looking pretty. Watch this space if your interested.

Well got some work done over the weekend. Finally got some ACF-50 to coat everything in. Cracking stuff much prefer it to the age old underseal or waxoil.

Still not mastered taking pictures with such bright lights around.

Swapped out the short shift for a standard one. No wonder it felt a bit off as it must have been missing some shims or something as even with the bolt tight there was a tone of play in the end onto the linkage. Also swapped on a nicer set of linkages while there, swapped over polly bushes and rubber greased the shift ball.

Swapped off the Meister Rs as it seems they are stuck on full hard damping which was getting tiresome. Fitted some DC2 shocks and lowered springs. Least now the car is much nicer on the road and not shaking itself apart. Think I will just send the coilovers for a rebuild.

Then got stuck into pulling the box out to inspect the clutch. Turns out what I was expecting. The friction disc had started collapsing meaning sometimes it would jam and not fully release. Luckily it only damaged the Clutch itself not the flywheel or box. Glad we got home with it to be honest, it happened to us on the way to Japfest last year but was very intermittent only failing occasionally. Would have made a right mess if it completely collapsed on the way up the motorway to the boat.

Good job I had a couple spare in stock lol.

Got the car back together with some fresh oils and everything covered in some ACF50 to clean. Then the thing wouldn't start as if the battery was flat. Fitted booster pack and nope still just clicking. Quick skeet at connections and found the earth to the box was a little loose on the body. Tightened up and was all good, but then got me thinking is that the only decent earth this more has? LOL. So gave it a good clean and refresh then dug out an old battery/body earth of an mx5 I stripped and bolted it onto the back of the engine and chassis by the battery for good measure. No harm in some extra beefy earths.

Then out for a quick wash to clear the dust ready for a decent detail and refresh.

Kieran i just read through the thread and see that you did the alignment. What do you set a fast road setup to generally? I want my eg6 done mate.

The term Fast Road setup is used way to often. Is there such a thing? I would say no. The alignment of a car is more of a personal preference. I always start from a standard setting based, maybe a little more towards the neutral 0 toe to start with then test it. I only add extra settings if I want to try stuff out or set a car up a certain way. If you don't really know what effects what in terms of the toe, camber and castor I would do something reading up first the go from there.

Most of the time if you are only lowering your car reasonable amounts then the natural caber gained is about right and adjustable camber "correction" arms are not needed. Usually between -1/-2 deg front and slightly less rear. Personally I set up with slight toe in alround or 0 but that's just me. As I tend to use higher speeds than tight twistys so stability is more important than turn in sharpness To me.

Sits really nicely with the new (old) suspension! I like it a lot! ;-)

Well, guess I had better update this.

Bad news of sorts for me, I did lay a mention that I was considering moving the car on. Someone did in fact show some very keen interest, enough to take her off us.

I am relieved in a way, as it was literally parked up for 98% of the time we had it. I restored what I could and improved what I saw needed.

I was happy with the history of civics the new owner had, so was relieved to see it go to a good home.

it's always nicer knowing it will be looked after :) unlike my EK9 that i sold to a guy only to be told by a forum member that is was in pieces on ebay a week later :yuno:

Was an easy decision for me to come and collect this from you after reading thro the build threads and going on your description the car was 100% as described and that is rare nowadays with all the "mint" and "zero rust" terms getting used so loosely

We would have like to have stayed longer and actually have a look around the island but i will one day

I need to get the finger out and start a thread for this done
