Cant find a thread at all on here, mayb useing wrong search words.

But i have standard ek4 brakes with upgraded brake pads,
currently running 210 hp,soon to be 260-280 hp

Will my ek4 brakes hold up or should i upgrade.
If so whats best bang for buck?

Thanks

280 Whp ???

Running standard brakes with only pad's upgraded..... You mad Bro ??

What are you running to get 210 Whp currently and what are you doing to get another 70 Whp.... ??

Every time someone goes for power, everyone always advises Suspension and braking upgrades to suit the power..

Do you track the car ?

280 Whp with standard EK9 Brakes and upgraded pad's would still be silly.

Wilwoods are probably the most common i see advised by those in the know..

Turbo jordan, going for full map with vtec6000.

Yeah thought so just want to be sure and see if any one is running ek4 brakes with good pads.

just for the odd drag day and a few spins.

Mainly used as daily driver.

Sick !!! tbh Vtec6000 is probably able to give you good advise on braking, Sure he see's alot of car's with that sort of power..

Turbo jordan sounds nice :nice:

its pretty sick alright, very happy with it at the moment although getting bored with 210 and cant wait for the remap.

Would the ek4 brakes just get to hot and fail or would they just not be good enough, cause ill take percatuions in order for them to work as in not run back to back and give it cooling time.

I dont know the difference between ek9 and ek9 brakes but my ek9 brakes and ds2500 put up with anything and I have 233/ 150

Sweet mate, glad you are happy with it.

i wouldn't be able to say though dude and i don't want to give you any advise i don't understand myself.

I was going by experience of others building car's with that power.. but tracking it i would advise upgrading further..

PM Kozy, he may be busy but i'm sure if he gets time he will help you out, he has great knowledge over things like this :nice:

Size diff ek4=262 and ek9=282, correct if im wrong.

So that size diff would make a difference in braking ability.

But those pads love them,

233 Hp is very different to 270 Whp...

yeh man EK4 is 262 mm EK9 is 282 mm

so its nearly 100 Hp + with - 20 Mm..

i'd say its time to upgrade ;)

I think so too man, but gonna do one drag day with them, but obviously be sensible with the times between each run.

Brake upgrades when done correctly can and will transform a civic into a performance car.
I think brakes should be upgraded prior to any hp increase as it takes longer to learn how to use them correctly.

I am of the same opinion but in my case, has not been done :nono:

prelude or legend brakes should be swapable. Also hear of people using mg brakes to up the size and keep the 4x100

ive 300mm accord type r brakes on my fully built b18c jordan atm with ds3000 pads and mtec race discs no fade on track at all

No need to upgrade the brakes other than the pads unless its regulary tracked.

Having more power doesnt necesstate more powerful brakes , the higher the frequency and speed of your braking does :nice:

^^^Yeah, no brakes at all are needed if you follow that logic...just coast well before the intended stopping point. lol
