Well i cant believe I'm saying this but I'm considering going back to NA, the way my car currently stands i hardly drive it, its just too damn wild!! I'm thinking to rebuild the B16b block i have (dont worry bosniacrx i will find you another block) with ITR/GSR crank/rods/pistons to make it a 1.8, put my header back on and a stock air box, put back the stock injectors and ek9ecu, put a cat back on, put the interior back, add power steering and AC and make this damn car my everyday driver :)

opinions?

Why not eh, reap some money back on your turbo parts - easier if nobody will buy the car as it is. Its a nice looking motor either way, pointless having a car with so much power if you never get to use it to its full potential. Dont know about the US but here in UK the only time you can get a spirited drive in is at night or very early on a Sunday morning, unless you live more remotely.

Sounds good but I know if it was me, it would'nt be long before id be missing all that power again

It'll be more fun than driving and making payments on a fit.:secret:

Go for it! my EJ6 arrives tomorrow from the USA :nerv: and will be my daily drive, It will only have ek9 goodies :secret:

Wise choice mate.
All the power is of course excellent.. however, driving it more often would be better :)
plus you could make some money off your turbo parts

careful using the EK9 ecu with the 1.8L but other than that... dooooo it... and have fun doing some HPDE!

lol, my thoughts exactly

i was going to use the USDM ITR pistons so i would have the same compression ratio as stock b16b and use some piggy back to add a tiny bit more fuel, think that be enough or should i have something that does timing also? i just wanna stay away from stand alones... i want my car to START everyday and STAY ON!!

You will no doubt miss the power/torque but if you need to save some money, you will most likely have to cut back on some finer things in life. Sure will still be a good car and will be a nicer drive, so if thats what your new aim is, go for it, we cant really say not to as its your aim, not ours.

You're in the states....c'mon now... use crome at least! :p
crome/hondata/eCtune is hardly standalone as they use the honda architecture as their foundation so they will almost always start and keep running.

Power FC/AEM/Motec ....well that's another story.

Crome huh? dunno how i feel about that... going from aem ems to crome i would feel embarrassed, i would much rather prefer to say i have a stock ecu lol. i would even prefer to get a power FC to add a bit of fuel and run that with the oem ecu.

I don't get why you would be embarrassed? Does it not do the job? Frankly it will do the job better than the OEM ECU especially since you have access to dyno tune and a wideband

Power FC - you're gonna spend all that money just to add a bit more fuel? Doesn't sound like this makes any sense... I guess it's just me...

my mistake i meant to say i would rather have an apexi VAFC the piggyback one. in all honesty i will probably end up keeping it a 1.6 as all it will need is new pistons while if i want to go 1.8 i have to worry about new rods and a new crank which adds about 5-800 to the build :angry2:

i dont like the crome idea, heard too many horror stories from people and tuners, i spoke to 2 tuners who both said the program is just not stable. we all kinda look down on crome at the garage, i'd be like the clown. we used to have customers all the time who would come in cause another shop blew up there motor tuning with crome :nerv:

I don't think it's the programs fault, it's probably the tuner's fault or something wrong with the motor condition or setup. I've only heard of good things from crome.:nice:

back to NA:angry:?? in my opinion:buy another ek9(stock if U can) and your turboed civic keep like a beast for weekends..:nice:

i guess every engine/ems combination is different. high hp cars get so complicated when they blow up its nearly impossible at times to know what really happend i guess.

FWIW, on crome pro we did 350whp pump gas and 430whp half pump/race. Stock B18C5.

I think some of the problems others have had are due to the fact that they didn't go crome pro and were trying some hack moves to try and datalog and tune from there.

We haven't had any significant issues to report - but then again, we started with crome pro from pretty much day 1.

can someone tell me can i not just then use the ITR ecu if i go 1.8? a certain year has an immobiliser, which year is that?

actually haitch i think the majority of the world does most of there spirited driving at night. ever heard of the Mid Night Club? NO NOT THE VIDEOGAME! i mean the real Mid Night Club, follow the link and find out.

now blinx it all depends on what you want to do with your car, you should know this. if you weren't going to race it in the first place i wouldn't have put a turbo in it. COME ON! BE A MAN! LEARN HOW TO DRIVE! you have to handle your car, dont let the car handle you! but if you think about it 333whp is really no all that much. i damn near had that much in my old 350z. it had little modifications with some light tuning. its not that much trust me :D

but if you insist on going NA, at least for the love of all that is holy invest in some ITB's.

i have more to say, but i will end my rant now. sorry for yelling at you. dont worry every one needs a little tough love every now and then.
