With the EK9 out of action at the moment (very long story - ended up chewing its own bottom end up in the middle of no where the other day) I thought I'd pay the EJ9 some attention while I'm waiting for parts to arrive for my Stroked B16B engine rebuild.

Front lip was un-sprayed so I thought I'd have a go myself... removed for a clean up:

Covered up a few casting marks... :blabla:

While I was waiting for stuff dry I gave the whole car a detail. Shampoo, Degreased, Tar removed, Polished & Glazed...

Just sat waiting to get it's lip back and have a few coats of sealant...

Once the lip has had 24hrs to dry it'll go back on tomorrow :naughty:

Nice work man, Ian's old daily ? looks sweet, drop a k24 in it while your waiting on the lip to dry :p

Bad news bout the 9 mate :(( I believe everything happens for a reason though ;)

LMAO... Yeh mate, it's a mint little run around. Fully serviced by the man himself. Ian's a bit polish shy though... well hopefully not anymore after I showed him the ways the other day... :nice:

Yeh it does suck a bit about the 9, was stuck in the deepest depths of devon when it went. We're 70% through the Stroked B16B rebuild already though so that can replace the blown horse **** rip off B18C4 that's in there at the moment :angry2:

look forward to seeing it with the lip back on, very clean!

SHould be good with the stroked b16b in there when its done :nice:

ian certainly is shy of polishing and if you do it my way (without a machine) its an easy job, at least trev will know its gone to a good owner tho not bad for a daily!

Why tape the lights?? run the buffer over them.

it does them no harm... clean little car tho :nice:

The lights have a special UV coating on them which stops them yellowing, the compound I was using would have removed this.

IMO you should only polish your lights once they have started to yellow, if you do it before this you are doing them more harm than good.

They got a nice coat of wax though. :nice:

LOL it's even easier with a machine :nice:

Cool little car, excellent detail and polish work! :) good luck sorting the EK9 mate!

Painted lip finally back on now ready for Japfest... getting rattle cans to a nice glossy finish is no mean feat (learnt a lot doing this though).

Just needs a little wash for sat now :)

good job mate as you say rattle can'in is a pain to get a good finish but pulled it off nicely by the looks of it :D

Sweet car, looks like you did a good job with the cans. Need close ups though...

juat watch that lip on speed bumps and the likes. got the same one on my car and its in need of another respray already.. :(

that wee car is real smart looking.

As the nine is off the road with the engine out at the moment I thought I'd have a go at the intake manifold upgrade.

Wanted to do this as cheaply as possible as a little project.

To start off with I got my hands on a D15Z6 manifold including the fuel line (thanks Alan), fuel rail, throttle body, throttle cable bracket as many hoses as possible.

My mate had a nice machined block off made up for the for the Exhaust gas thing for his H-series conversion which he kindy let me have... and we made another one up for the IACV too.

Already had a spare cleaned K&N filter from my Mugen induction kit on my EK9 and a matching velocity stack and some random hoses and jubilee clips. Also got my hands on a new intake manifold gasket for £3.

Had this Induction pipe laying around too (might respray this in the future).

Start removing bits off the manifold for cleaning.

This is where the exhaust valve thingy block off goes. :headbang:

After getting everything off the mani was cleaned and degreased - this is as good as I could get it without spending any more time or money on it.

Next the manifold was left over night to fully dry out.

Part 2:

The next day I took some time to look at both manifolds are work out what will need to be swapped over. As the EJ9 uses a TB mount idle control system I would need to transfer this over to the new manifold so the eveything still plugs in on the loom.

Airbox removed

Comparing the two manifolds

Start cleaning off any stuck on old gasket material
P8144917.jpg

Bolted the EJ9 TB to the new intake manifold and then started applying Honda bond around the now redundant IACV holes.
P8144918.jpg

Plate then bolted over the top with some random spare bolts.

Honda bond around the Exhaust thingy and then bolt the block of plate down.
P8144920.jpg

Next I started bolting everything back onto the car while running some new hoses where the old ones wouldn't work. I also had to swap the spring loaded throttle mechanism over from the D15 TB onto the D14 TB so I could re-use my throttle cable.

P8144922.jpg

Made a bracket out of the bit that normally holds the power steering hose on the D14 (now no longer fits anyway) to hold the induction bit up and stop it rubbing against the engine mount.

P8144923.jpg

Also before fitting the induction pipe I had to drill a hole of the pre-TB air sensor which is being held in by a cable tie for the time being...

After doing this I'd def say it's a worth while mod, power wise it's noticeable but not massive in my opinion but it does give you access to a better range of induction kits (I only really did this for the sound :) )
