Gents,

Have just done a 5 lug swap and put wilwoods on the front of my ek3.

I have ridiculous pedal travel at the moment. However when the car isn't on, i have a good solid pedal.

Bled the brakes 3 times manually and 3 times on a vac bleeder.

I have the standard prop valve and M/C, as i read this isn't ideal but shouldn't make a massive difference.

Can't see what if anything i've done wrong??

you'd probably need the 1" mc to be right. you sure you bleeding them in the right order and that no air is getting back in the system? just trying to eliminate the variables!

Gunna re-do it tonight with out the vac bleeder as i dont trust it!

I know its preffered but it shouldn't be as bad as it is i wouldn't have thought!

Changing the MC will only make the issue worse as you'll have less pressure with a larger MC.
I dont know anyone who's fitted a Wilwood kit need to upgrade their MC, the issue will more than likely be air still in the lines.
Bleed, bleed and bleed again, and make sure you're bleeding the correct order, furthest to closest to the res. Also, bleed the outer nipple first, then the inner on the 2 bleed nipples at the top of the calipers.

i had same problem with my hub swap but i just kept bleeding and it was fine. So keep going ha good luck

you have to start from the wheel thats farther away so go left rear then right rear then left front and last right front, had that problem when i did my 5lug conversion hope this helps

Just something I thaught id mention.
When I swapped my calipers I had a similar problem.

Turned out after loads of messing around that I had slightly overtightened the bleed screws and there were tiny hairline cracks in them.

Apparently enough to cause plenty of air to get back in the system.

Might be worth checking if anyone gets these issues and can't find the cause.

If your getting a good pedal without servo assistance ( car not running) then that indicates there's no air in the system.

Its probably bled fine, the extra pedal travel will be due to the smaller MC.

Sounds like you need to fit a 1" master cylinder mate. I had the same issue when I fitted 282s and a rear disc conversion to my coupe.. car stopped well but had a lot of pedal travel, fitted an EK9 master cylinder and servo and the difference was night and day!

Yup, was just air in the end.

EP3 calipers on the rear, mounted upside down so bled the off the car and hey presto

Ahh balls never noticed that! Teach me to pay attention when replying to things

Glad to hear it was a simple fix though :nice:
