i want to get one of these, but i don't know which one.
which one is better?

i sold my 98 spec gt4 for my ek9 rx,main reason selling it is because i got 8k£ for it and was out of work at the time....i prefer my nine but it needs more power:nice: especially after dropping from a 320bhp 4wd:D

hi mate a had a gt4 a few years back and an r32 gtr skyline. i have just bought an ek9 there in december was looking at evo 6s as well but opted for the ek9 have to say am glad a bought it its a great car to drive ok its not up there on the bhp but u would not be disappointed with ek9 performance or handling hope this helps. u could just test drive both and make ur mind up from there
 
I would love to have a gt4 one day, but they are very thirsty lol especially on boost, So is my starlet gt and that is only a 1.3!! hopefully the ek9 will be a bit better as long as i dont use vtec too much lol
 
i had a GT4 WRC 6months ago before buying the Ek9.

Regretable sale to be honest! GT4 had so much more power and looked the part, no1 had to ask what it was cause they all new unlike the Ek9.

Fuel economy is summit to consider though, like below 20mpg for the faff and near double that for the 9.

Cheap mod's can boost the faff way beyond anything that the 9 could ever dream of. Simple decat and boost controller sets you over 300bhp.

Faff's much cheaper and easier come by.

I'd have another faff any day!
 
i had one for 2 and a half years awsome cars and reliable i would have another one any day

but i also like the ek9 its not as fast but does handle better and its cheaper to run.

I am surprised to see such support for the 205 on an ek9 forum. Everyone seems to say how good the 205 is but you all have an ek9 now :woot:.

Well the majority of use here sold them to buy Ek9's, if i found a mint one again id def sell the 9 and buy another GT4!!! They are just a more fun car to drive! lol dare i say that on a EK9 forum?!

In my eyes their the best lookin 4x4 turbo on the road compared to the more popular boring evo's and subs.

have to disagree with that comment the only thing the gt4 has over the ek9 is the power factor from standard spec gt4 255bhp jap spec 185bhp ek9 ok slight mods would see the gt4 over the 300 mark and to get the 9 up to that would cost alot but saying that an ek9 with that bhp would be more fun in my eyes that my opinion having had the gt4 wrc and now the ek9 can say i would not change the 9 for the gt4 :)

Heres my old Jap St205 WRC, about 300-320HP, lovely car, drank fuels, ek9 is better IMO:nice:

lol, christ you must be easily pleased if you think Evo's are boring.

May i first of all say that If you put the lowest Engine spec Evo 8 which is the 265bhp entry level for the lancer it would probaly beat the Celica, maybe not hammer it but it would probaly beat it.

Put the 360 or dare i say the FQ 400 against it and well lets face it the Evo would piss all over it. Your comparing the wrong cars, The GT4 would have been pitching against cars like the Pulsar GTiR's, MR2 turbos,Glanza's so on and so forth.

In my opinion Evo's are a cut above the rest, Clarkson said it about the FQ 400 when he raced that Lamborghini around the track.

Boring??? Unless your weekend car is an Audi RS4 then i disagree

Its funny i never actually said that evo's were slower or faster than the celica? lol

just they are more common about my area hence a more boring car to choose from.

...... and i did race an evo 4 over 300bhp and did beat it! killer 3rd gear on the celica just seems to kill everything!
 
Was your celica stock? Cause thats what i was talking about, well you might think its a boring car to choose from as everyone is entitled to there opinion
 
I wouldnt p/x or sell my 9 for a GT4. Looking at the facts on paper the celica may look like the choice but the 9 is something truely special, every1 knows it and loves. Massive potential from a 1.6 N/A engine, handles better, cheaper to run and a honda so its engine is bulletproof!!

4wd would have to have an evo. They are common 4 a reason, they are the dogs!! :nice:

Not meaning to sound rude but if you havent driven one or raced one, dont comment, they are faster than the paper figures and evo quotes thw import as 0-60 in 5.7 and 155mph

this is really pointless sorry to say we could argue all day about which is better ek9 gt4 then we have evo's and that. ok i have been lucky to have had the gt4 and an evo but if am honest the best car i have owned was my skyline r32 gtr i was having the same problem at the end of the year about which car to buy a could a have went with the gt4 or evo 'skyline and so on but went with the 9 am well happy with this car ok its not a match on the power front but for fun to drive and own would have to say it up there with all the above its ur choice which one u go with at the end of the day mate:)
 
i have a st205 gt4 celica and am selling it to get a ek9 had a subaru wrx before that and my biggest misstake was buying the celica the turbo lag is massive the price of parts is massive 2 figer 8s and 2 bottom arms for frount sus cost £1100 fitted and the cars only done 55000 miles don't get me rong it looks good ! and top end is fast but turbo lag recks all that and if you connect anti lag it will eat even more fuel if you do want a 4x4 turbo my advice is get a wrx or a sti they have a lot more grip no lag sound better and you get more for your money !
