Don't see what people are being so harsh towards the police
There are sectors of the police who's main job role is to maintain a level of safety on the roads, hence traffic police, this leaves other areas of the police free to concentrate on other areas of crime etc
I'm very for checking the safety of cars, just because a car has an MOT it doesn't mean it's safe for the road at all as shown in that video with a dislocated spring/bald tyre
From a drivers point of view, being shown that something is unsafe on your car could prevent you crashing/even save your life at most!!! similarly even if it is not your own car then at least you can be at peace that the other cars on the road are in good road condition
I for one would be hugely pissed off if another car was to crash into me due to any reason, although particularly if his car was at fault
If the police continue to do this then it should help improve road safety. Of course the younger generation are going to be singled out, from a financial point of view for one they may not afford to change their tyres or have aftermarket parts fitted professionally so their cars COULD prove to be the biggest risk
Same applies for speeding, I am certainly no saint and cannot say that i've never soeeded. But when you do speed, you are ignoring limits that have been set in the aid of safety, if you get caught then it's no ones fault but yourself
Sorry if this seems like a rant, but I hate forum threads which spiral into a police bashing thread. They are out there to help
