Hi,
I have a question to all you ek9 guys, how will ha ek9 stand up to a Porsche 968 on the track? today i have a ek4 but thinking of buying a 968 to take to the track and do some "fun night driving"

Beacuse i love honda a Ek9 is a dream but how good is it really? anyone who has driven both of them?

pos for EK9:

It´s a Honda :)
Vtec
good looking
Interior
Lightweight

Neg:

right side steering (live in sweden)
have to import
might be hard to sell due to it´s a unknown car here.

Pos Porsche:

Rwd
more power
fun to own a porsche :)
what i heard it has very good handling.

Neg:

a little more expensive to own
not as beautiful as the honda
worse interior most of the times

So what so you think!?

Is the power and rwd enough to leave honda? :((

urgh.

the chances of someone on here actually having owned this car is slim to none.

my dad has had near enough every varient of porsche over the years and ones from this era and all super super dated inside.

i personally would pick the ek9 everytime

Rather than listen to a bunch of people on a forum who've not driven one I suggest you go and have a drive of one and make an informed choice yourself. Clubsport is the model you want if you're going to be using it on track.

You have a good point unfortnatly ek9 are extremely rare here in sweden (think we have one), therefore the knowledge of the car is bad and there is impossible to test drive one...the only people which i think can say anything about the ek9 vs other car are the people here...

I know it´s always bad to ask on a specfic forum.

On track, Driver skill is the deciding factor. They are totally different cars and its a matter of preference for one type.

Sadly you won't get an unbiased answer if you go looking on owners club sites. The lads on here will ask why you want a ropey old Porsche, the Porsche owners will ask why you want a fwd jap heap etc. Without driving both to make up your mind which you prefer it's a tough call tbh.

So i have dropt the thoughts about the porsche! im a hondaguy :) the only challanger now is DC5 ITR but i think ek9 is a winner...:)

Iv driven both a few times:

Dc5:
faster
comfier
mare space
rarer most places

ek9:
handles better
feels more race car
looks better (imo)

If it was me Id take a ek9 with a bigger engine fitted.

Thank you! only here in sweden the ek9 are more rare :) only have one in the country and about 5 DC5.

Please write with more info. But what can i expect in a ek9 forum :)

More info about what dude? If you gimme specifics i can write about my expreiances in each car.

EDIT: If i was you id buy a DC2.

had both.... ek9 all the way ;)

Yeah Gav for what reason would you go back to an ek9 over a dc5? Your not the only one on here who has done so. So the ek9 has something special over other type r's... I love my ek9 but would have thought type r's got better as time went on

:blabla: ;)

dc5's are great cars look cool nice k20 power etc but just dont feel as raw or planted as a 9 (and my dc5 had ohlins coilovers, works wheels etc) hard to explain both totally different cars but the ek9 wins on looks, chassis, everything really, just obviously not quite as fast but a good spec b18c6 ek9 will out perform a dc5... and look hotter in the process :D

ek9 for the win :win:

Oups wrote a bit strange i noticed now. Dc5 are as you said faster the dream would be a ek9 with K engine :nice:

About the comfort, how much differens is it? does dc5 feel much more of a car for DD? do you have any idea on how they are on fuel?

Guess i have to testdrive both but it´s hard to find when they are so rare!

how much should i pay for a good one in UK? ek9 about 6-7k for a facelifted or is that to much? but what about DC5?

mint facelift ek9 in uk bout 6-6.5k at the mo and dc5 between 7-10k depending on spec etc.

As a daily driver the dc5 was to harsh although that was purly due to the ohlins being set up for the track and was rather bumpy lol.

only way to know for sure what you prefer is have a drive in both but got a feeling the smaller b series might steal your heart ;)

Id say dc5 will better on fuel on normal day to day driving with more torque and the 6 speed box.

K swapped ek9 is the best man.

Dc5 being a bigger car just doesnt feel as tinny. Plus cos its obviously newer.

Id buy a engine swapped ek or dc2.

good spec b18c ek9 you have the best of both worlds mate: the extra power of the 18 and the rawness of the 9 chassis :nice:

today i have a ek4 i wonder how much differens there is between that and ek9, not often people have drove both of them so hard to find out. But i sounds like i have to take a trip to UK for a test drive :)

I have to consult my girlfriend to, there we might have the decision.
