Finally i have time to have a good look around my EK9, and at the same time do some work on it.
First things i found the CV boot damaged, lucky there no knocking cv join in the past week when i drive the car.
so change it. look at the CV boot book try to find the correct model, but turns out not 100% fit. :(

jack it up
SDC10309.jpg

un bolt the axle, take drive shaft out. see the damaged CV boot.
SDC10310.jpg

cut it, take it out.
SDC10312.jpg

give it a little clean, more grease
SDC10311.jpg

after this, i took some photo of my exhaust, mainly to show other members may have a deal on other syatem.
dont know what brand was this pipe, no marking on it every where.
but it was too loud for me, special when vtec kick's in. i did try put bung in, but feel the power is lower.
any one knows what brand was it?

still have time, so think should de-SRS (air bag) system. but i spend around 3 hours just to take the dash out. i know its slow. the reason was Mr. HONDA design put two little bars behind the dash and bolt from the back. F**K that !!
after 3 hours fight with the dash, and cut my hand, hit my head on the a piller.......it looks like this.
SDC10316.jpg

passgener side air bag out.
SDC10318.jpg

now steering wheels' bag
SDC10317.jpg

than my office / tea room was fill with the dash parts.
SDC10315.jpg

after all the hard work, the sun still out, so i design to strip it ready for forming.
SDC10319-1.jpg

than found some surface rust on the chassis, do you guys have the same problem ??
off side rear, behind the light.
SDC10326.jpg

under the rear seat
SDC10324.jpg

near the front seat belt bottom mount, both side
SDC10323.jpg

SDC10325-2.jpg

even more parts in the office. :(
SDC10320.jpg

well, thats it for day 1.
any question please ask.
thank you

You're certainly cracking on with it! :nice:

Is it definitely just surface rust, it's not coming through from the bottom, from the pictures it doesn't look like the bottom is undersealed. Maybe it's time to get a can of black gloup for the underbody :p

well i hope its just surface, other wise i will cry big time. i pay a big amount of cash to the seller. been told every things in good working order car is superb condition.....etc but now already found out some was not:nono:
will go get a big tub of the black stuff and a brush.

anyway, yeah. normally week day it was so busy in the workshop, so no have time for personal stuff, even washing the car:clap:

What are your plans for it for the future, any big ones like a B18c or a K20A conversion? :p

Goodluck on the undersealing, bloody 'orrible job, I did it on mine for the second time about a month ago: http://www.ek9.org/forum/builds-projects/22019-double-project-thread-road-rally-2.html#post239581

At this stage / moment i want to keep the B16, because of few things.
1. money
2. no have knowledge for the swap
3. dont like the K20A, seen 3 blow the buttom end. ( all from low mileage fn2)
the most important was this little civic was really impress me. the speed round town is un-beatable. so very happy with it.

yes, it was a pain in the hole job. in the pass i use spary for the customer's car, only because of time. that things goes EVERY THERE. this time i will just use brush, i can do it bits by bit.

nice build up you have going on... keep it up mate, hopefully get to see your car on the rr day:)

the things we do for our honda's..it never tires us

goodluck man

Good work man, it's gonna be good to drive it when it's so light and i think that exhaust was a HKS high power or A'pexi n1 :)

As for the exhaust, it dont have any marks or little plate on it, so hardly to tell what it was, but yes it does looks like apexi n1 / kakimoto style.

have more work today, fully stip out the whole interior, give it a little clean up, tread the rust bit, than put the car back on the floor and get ready for forming.
but i forgot today was sunday, cant buy stuff any where :( so wait unti tomorrow.
in the middle of stiping the car, i found some funny stuff under the carpet. some Japanese yen, some English pound, and 2 "for you" ribben, funny as F**k.
and than again, after everythings out of the chassis, the car rise a bit, it looks like a 4x4 now. photo will be up-load later tonight when i get back home.
regards

right than. photo time.

more seat out
SDC10327.jpg

red carpet out ready for VIP :)
SDC10328-1.jpg

this is what i found under the red carpet.
SDC10330.jpg

SDC10331.jpg

now it looks like this.
SDC10329.jpg

give it a little wash and banging, will be come like this.
SDC10334.jpg

SDC10336.jpg

SDC10335.jpg

yes you can see there was a small area i did not take it off, because there was two big hole, and the top bit was sealan.
i dont have any more sealan in the workshop so i leave it.
not a very nice job just a quick one.

there was a "ca" behind the top mirror plate. WTF ??
SDC10337.jpg

and the best parts from a HONDA EK9.
some cardboard paper. F**K that shi* man !! do you guys have the same special parts fitted to your EK9? or im just a lucky winner.
i can see why its there, but can it be somethings little bit better than this !
SDC10338.jpg

tomorrow will start do the forming, same time do some black stuff too.

regards

is that the lightweight model or did all ek9's come without the black tary sound deadning under the carpet?

i love these type of builds, def keeping an eye on this thread.

i cant wait to get mine started

Wow...tearing down an ek9! kind of insane. Either way looks good. Is that also an accord you have back there in those images? any pics of it?

@ wanstar - im quite sure all EK9 no have sound deadning. only one patch under driver footwell. mine was not a light weight version, they dont comes with electric window. i do love to have one, but cant find one.
no sound deadning to me which is good, cause i hate this job !!

@DIY EK2142 and JDMJNKY - Like it, should see my pass job. every car comes in from Japan first things i rip them off :) (not for normal car tho) the most creasy one was a 86. it was a grade 4 mint car when its arrive, have full black interior, all electric pack, air con, power steering. i took every things off, take air con off, take power steering off, removed all sound deadning. whole car only have the dash, 2 seat, cage. the missus hate it. ha ha
yes that was a Honda CF4 sir, nice 4 door.

the work carry on today. get all the form ready to injet the the chassis.
but lots of phone call today, i go too far and waste a lot of them.:angry2:
should finished with 8 cans, but i use 12 cans. :(
its every where.
SDC10343.jpg

this was a mess
SDC10342-1.jpg

because this things need long time to dry, so i start to paint the black stuff.
i remover the rear bumper, because i can see that area have many rust.
i forgot to take photo of cleaning and paint before:nerv: but this is the result.
SDC10344.jpg

after my mate come visit me and have mess around, i start to clean up the mess.
SDC10345.jpg

because they not totally dr yet, som some of them still stick on the chassis, tomorrow i need to totally remove tham to look good.

car looks stupid when it dont have the side skirt fitted.
SDC10346.jpg

ar... i use this long time already. dont know where i still can find some info for you.
but this is no rocket science, when you have an open end'ed square box or tube, it have some flex. fill it up with somethings, its stop the flex.
if you can fill up all the gaps on a vehicle body with somehtings, its make it more stiff.
it also helps reduce noise.
hope this help.
