ok lads im in a bit of bother,me and a mate put a b16b "97" engine into a 97 ek4 sir2 over the w end,we got the b16b engine without a loom so we just used the sir loom,we are fairly sure we plugged everything into its place and we have even checked diagrams we got from the internet just to confirm so we are fairly sure, anyway my problem is is that the engine is turning over but not fireing up?we have checked the fuel pump that seems to be cutting in fine and we have fuel running thru the line all the way to the engine,we thought the distributor was the problem so we changed that. then that failed so just to make 100% sure we tried another 1 and that failed too..they were tyre r distributors by the way "b16b"..we have power going to the distributor but not going to the plug leads?we have the leads on correctly aswell and we even changed the leads just to elimenate that..would it be that i need to get a sir distributor?we are using the sir ecu aswell, would it be that?i dont think so tho.i no that the proper 1 i should be using is the tyre r but it should still fire up right?..

Try using a jumper cable between negative on battery and connect to somewhere on block just to eliminate it been a bad earth

I had similar problems with my engine conversion. Had no spark. Ended up being the immobiliser so had to buy the ignition barrel, key and immobiliser control box. The ecu needs a specific code in order to start from the immobiliser control box.
Basically i will explain.
1.) You turn the key.
2.) The signal from a chip in the key gets picked up by the ring around the key hole
3.) this signal is then sent to the immobiliser control box. (just above your knees behind the cover)
4.) This signal is then checked by the immobiliser box and if all is ok sends the signal to the ecu to start and give a spark.
Hope this helps as i had same symptoms
