hey guys, i was wondering you know when you check your oil levels, and there are 2 dots indicating full and low, when u guys do an oil change do you fill it up to the middle of those points or do you just fill it up to the full dot?

im asking this becuase i had a fwend do an oil change for me, 10,000 km later i checked my oil levels before a service and i noticed it was in the middle of the 2 points, not sure if he did that or im leaking oil :(.

well let me know thanx guys :D

you always fill it up to the mark the oil filter needs to be drenched which brings the mark down,

although i just fill to the mark, go for a drive then check it again and top up if needed

honda's burning oil is common but for it to burn that little in 10,000km i wouldnt worry about it

hehe nice, well cool thnx alot guys.. no need to stress.. cant wait for my service tomorrow.. ^^ she's gona love that

Once u go on Vtec...make sure u always check ur oil regular...

I try to keep it a little above the top mark (OEM pan) to keep a little more oil in the pickup around corners.
The top mark is the means your oil is full, between the two is one quart/liter of oil. So if it reads at the lower mark, you need to add one quart.

My B16B burns no oil between oil changes...nothing at all. It's really healthy..too bad it's getting replaced by B18C :D

I usually repace & fil to the full mark... always very keen to not put anymore in. However last wkned i tracked the car and added bit more over the full mark. @ the end of the track day i had consumed the excess i had added.

then i was told by a m8 i had bit white smoke when changing gear!! so i guess the engine @ hard use will burn the excess u add... would this be bad for the valve seals? more oil more pressure?

tx

overfill your oil once by too much and your oil will be forever black:nono:

Can't say id recommend overfilling your engine with oil. The top dot/notch "MAX" is there for a reason.

Dont overfill fill your engine :nono: especially if you're tracking it,every oil seal will end end leaking and as above you'll have crap black oil forever

When is it best to check your oil?

First thing in the morning when its been sitting over night?
Or after 5mins of running at idle?
Or after a 5min drive?

I check my oil everytime I go to start it...It doesnt burn a drop but still check for piece of mind..I would check it after being parked over night or even a few days

i check mine every time i fill it with SUL:nice:

i just let it sit for 5 mins with the oil cap unscrewed to release any pressure but there shouldnt be its just a habit i cant stop:p

maybe its the smooth precise turning of my spoon billet oil cap that gets my rocket rocking:D

10-15mins after driving.. Any oil in galleries or in the head will return to the sump by then..unless its 20w60:D
