I'm looking to swap my engine soon after I do everything can someone tell me how. Much roughly a b16b and b18c will cost from a private seller as company's tend to be a bit more expensive cheers

A grand with gearbox for a B18C????

More like £1400-£1500 minimum mate, the gearbox alone is £400-500.

I got my B18C-R set up with 80k for £1500 with box.

I think he ment for the b16. That's good price was it fRom a private seller?

My bad,
I ment without a box.
Long day!
And I'd say similar for a b16b, they are much rarer to find for sale

Trouble is buying a second hand engine is a huge gamble!

Was it a one off or does he break tegs etc?

He breaks Type-R cars, good communication and not one to mess you about,

He has fitted and sold many engines, yet to find one complaint online tbh, so must be a good thing :)

Drop him a PM.

Why go for a B16B when u can get the B18C for similar prices...

Not much of a gamble if you know a trusted seller to buy from.

I never said go for either, he asked prices for both

Since you asked, pros of a b16b over a b18c;
Capable of higher revs, with short gears a b18c wouldn't loose one around a track.
Don't seem to have the famous oil consumption issues almost ever b18 has
Original engine in an ek9 and somewhat exclusive, and JDM only which some people like :)

That's what stops me stroking my b16b :)

If all that's true,

Must be weird most EK9 owners go for the B18C in their EK9 :)

More torque, more power and was in the best front wheel drive car of all time ;)

Yep, they are quicker no doubt about it. :nice:
More ek9s with b16bs than a b18, so I wouldn't say most. :secret:
It's a common swap though

But 9's came with 16b's standard so thats an invalid point of arguement, when stating the obvious

I was responding to this comment; 'Must be weird most EK9 owners go for the B18C in their EK9'

Most ek9 owners still have the original engine I was trying to say, there is no way more with b18s than b16s. :blabla:

Speaking from experience here, go for nothing less than a B18c (the real b18,not a c4) and you will not be disappointed! I never had a seconds bother with mine and it never consumed a drop of oil!

Again, mine doesn't consume oil *touchwood* and being in my mates B16B, its just a better all round engine in a package in terms, it has torque, power and that VTEC crossover, nom nom!!
