Ok sorry if this is the wrong thread but i thought it would be better to stick it all up in one thread

Im looking into getting a engine rebuild but never had anything like this done. Would anyone be able to give me some names of places that has a good reputation and knows there way around a honda that could do it.

Any light that could be shed on it would be handy, rough prices ect :)

Also want to get her re sprayed, same sort of thing can anyone point me in the right direction to a place that someone knows is good? and again a rough price. i got rust under the arches and other bits in places that i want to get sorted asap aswel

Finally the under seal, i want this done before winter and have no idea were to go, i havent got the time to do it myself so i just would prefer to send it in and get it done properly

Any info would be great, i know it won't be cheap but obs want to try and keep the price down :)

Thanks

What engine's in your Honda? As I'm sure that will affect rebuild costs drastically!

Hi mate

You should try this place Performance Tek, the guy (Gerry) knows his Hondas inside out and has done millions of rebuilds and swaps, I would highly recommend him for his quality and his prices! He is also a top guy you can trust!

He is on Facebook aswell check it out if you have an account.

He is also right next door to a bodyshop (ia bodyshop) who recently resprayed my car, there should be pics on here somewhere, check out my posts think I put ones up recently after I washed it. I was really happy with the job (Imy the owner) done.

They are based in rutherglen area and jordan101 from the forum is also in that area and does undersealing, I again can vouch for his work and would highly recommend him, he done my car, again there is pics on here somewhere of the job, just thought as they are all in the same area you could get all the work done at once (would cost a bit but would be worth it)

berkshire is quite a trip from glasgow!

As above if you do come to glasgow IA body shop for the body work (won't be cheap) and I hear nothing but good of him and performance tek is right next door. Dan is literately round the corner from them too!

For me I'd go to andrew at Automek, i've had him do almost everything and will continue using him as his service is just 10/10. Here's his site: Automek – Servicing & Performance Tuning

I dont know how far you are from oxford but try Hond-R, they helped me with gathering parts for my b16b swap. Maz is a top guy

Yeah it's a bit of a trip mate but nothing beats a good road trip, plus he could drive up enjoying the roads, drop it of for a month or so then come pick it back up and drive it back down enjoying his pimped out ride :naughty:, the excitement of waiting to get it back would be immense lol.

I don't know anyone down south really just thought I would pop in my wee bit:blabla:

Your roughly talking £1000 - £2000 for your respray as well. Depending on the bodyshop.

thanks for the kind comments, gary and ally much appreciated lads. as said would be happy to do the udnerseal for you an i dont charge above the odds either :)

That would be cheap,
It depends in the standard your after but I very much doubt you could get a factory quality finish for £1k.
Underseal is easy to do yourself tbh, I did my arches and wings all liners out etc. with bilt hamber stuff. So easy to use.
Just gotta finish off another
Time but worst is done :)
Engine rebuild I'd seriously
Think about going with a b18 swap...

No worries, the underseal is still hanging on there haha! Arches not so good though but was expected anyway :p

once rust starts its a nightmare to stop no matter what you do unfortunately mate. i have a good rsutcure you can try if ur around the area one day pop in and i will give you some

Thanks for all the info everyone much appreciated. I would love to come up there and get it all done at the same time but its a bit far for me im affraid never the less I hear nothing but good things from you Jordan keeping the EK9s safe and sound :nice:

Anyone know of anywere more berkshire way? I got my eyes on one place called Morleys body repairs, I know one person thats been there just for a few little bits but dont know what they would be like on a full respray, they do arches and stuff so I can get the rust sorted but there cheapish and I dont want a bad job :nono:

I thought about the 1.8 but to be honest im just looking for a very clean standard example of a EK9 its what iv always wanted and I do love the B16 :)

Thanks

Cut it out,
Or Sand it ALL back, prep, zinc primer, decent primer then paint.

That's the only permanent ways to stop it

Thanks, tbh just wanting to pass this year's MOT and then get the thing reshelled next summer. Will try it one day if I can find some time. Cheers though

Josh, just my 2p but the engine isn't buring any oil so I'd say save your money on the rebuild. Maybe get the clearances done and a water pump and oil pump change if you're picky but an actual re-build isn't necessary at all.

As for bodywork, try TGM? I believe they're in Fleet in Hampshire.....

Very good advice man thanks I think your right, reverse gear sounds a little funny and the engine is quite tappy but no burning oil im just worried about those things really as I only just got the car, think I might just get someone to look at those bits.

I will change clutch cambelt water pump ect like you said, I could try do them bits myself its just the time.

I will give them a ring when I got a second thanks very much :nice:

Any bodyshop will steal £150'ish from you to merrily spray black goop on the underside, but it's such an easy job I'd always rather do it myself to ensure all the trim was removed to do it etc and just spend £30 on some black waxoyl. If you were closer I'd do it for £150 with Waxoyl or £200 for a full Dinitrol job :)
