for sale: TURBO EK9 Civic Type R-HKS Tuned

TBH I think the wrong angle is taken on this, and other modifications such as Nitrous Oxide....everybody seems to go on and on about the HP increase, but the real shocker is the torque increase. NA cars arent the torquest (sp?) but thats what the turbo brings...

Yes, you are correct. Torque is what makes a car quick (i.e acceleration), and adding a turbo certainly "boosts" the little 1.6 :)

One thing to remember is, our US dyno results read a **** load higher than UK dyno results and that is fact.

tbh, you would more likely to only see around an extra 50hp with that setup especially with only 0.35 bar, which puts it around 235hp at the FLY. If you were to contact HKS (or GReddy or APEXi who also offer a similar kit with intercooler), they would also say around a 50hp increase.

So, circa 200whp, which makes for a very quick low-boost EK9 :)

This is just my 2c though. I could (and have from time to time) been proven wrong. Anyway, good luck with the sale :)
i dont know anything about uk dyno's but i know on a US dyno that car will brake 200whp easily and should be closer to 225, ive seen 280whp with 11psi from that turbo before, its a small turbo and maxes out at about 17psi to being between 6-15psi is its sweet spot...

thats very true, turbo's make a lot of torque! i have 260 lbs of tq at the wheels!! which i would NEVER have na and it really makes it fun.

Dont know why the car hasnt sold yet , if i had the option between 2000 standard and 1997 tuned like this there would be no thought of buying the 2000.

anybody who buys this will be lucky !

Spot on, exactly the way I think about it:nice:

omg nobody has bought this car yet? what are you people waiting for???? this is a STEAL!!!

Blinx, Im thinking of putting the price back up, the reduced cost still hasnt got anybody to come and see the car yet...We bought it because we thought this would sell to a Honda enthusiast within minutes, but its been a lot of minutes, lol....We've never had a car for so long.

Its the usual we are getting...I want to buy the car but 'blah blah'.....lol.

maybe it will sell quicker if you convert it back to NA and sell the turbo kit seperately? im not sure how cost effective that will be though... i know this would sell in USA VERY fast!!

IMO, the EK9 will sell much better in an unmodified (or mildly modified) state, mainly because the EK9 along with the DC2 ITR, defines what Type-R means i.e Close to NA perfection from factory.

This, along with it being rare/unavailable officially makes the status even higher than the DC2 ITR. This is as JDM as you can get NA, and is what most people are looking for when they buy an EK9.

Perfection untouched can always be modified. Perfection already modified isn't really perfection, if that makes sense?

If it was an EK4 with the turbo conversion though, then this would sell a lot faster.

In all honesty I doubt people will actually buy the turbo kit if it was seperate...I wouldnt be selling it for £1000 or something either.

As you can see on this site, its not as popular to turbo these cars as it is in USA, so for somebody to do it themselves is a lot less likely, and this car has a unique selling point due to that...how many other turbo EK9's are there in the UK? How many have been done by the most well known Jap tuner, HKS?

Its not that the car doesnt generate interest, just look how many views have been on this thread and we havent ever received so many e-mails about a car before...we have had around 2-3 per week about this car, none have actually come to view the car. The more serious ones go to get a deposit but then we will never hear from them again.

Not sure where else you have it posted, you could try more forums.

lancerregister.com
cliosport.net
seatcupra.net
civictype-r.co.uk etc

Always people waiting for the right car that they dont know is out there, a pain to register but could benefit?

this car really deserves a good home, im gonna sticky a copy of this thread in the forced induction forum, hopefully this helps out :nice:

It's been more than 3 months now since this thread started and this car is still unsold! Paradox!
