Ok guys,

back in September I won £500 worth of CNC machine time at a drift show (including design and parts) the thing is I have no idea what i can have made :please: theres nothing I can think off i need although I am about 1/5th into my EJ9 project. I dont want to waste it on something pointless as theres no time limit on when it must be used by, any suggestions would be great, id also consider having something made to sell which could speed up my project.

Cheers,

Cool prize!

Something I always wanted was CNC machined indicator stalks. Pointless, but they'd be so nice to use. :)

What about hub adaptors to make your own big brake kit, just throwing ideas at ya :)

I have a Cnc code and alphacam model here for a spoon duracon shift knob somewhere

Nuts it's pretty basic and would take anyone worth their salt 10minutes to model and code

Could do like a custom gear knob with the buyers chassis number carved Into it or something?
Custom touches like that.

How much time does £500 buy you anyway?

Good question, I believe that most of the value is in the programming so if I had a CAD file or something recognised in their software the programming cost would be significantly less. They have various materials available from stainless to alloys etc, the company is Diemax engineering in Dundee Scotland.

lower control arm or as above gear knob

I thought about LCA's in polished stainless or something would look epic, the only thing would be making sure you could fit the bushes in properly but im sure it wouldnt be to much hassle.

That would be cool to get that as believe programming is the most expensive part. :nice:

Cant CNC be programed off of vector files? [vector Acrobat PDF or Adobe Illustrator]
Save the monies for the actual machine time.

CNC programming really cannot be transferred from a PDF - theres no way for accounting for the amount of material needing to be machined, the coding of changing toolbits to accomodate chamfers/radius's, programming of a proper CNC product takes time to perfect it but there are limitless things you could get knocked up mate!

ic thank you for clearing that up.
Im producing some splitter brackets that are cut from flat sheets of aluminum, 2D not 3D...this is how I arrived at that. Im using PDF

Maybe a plug cover with something personal engraved in?

A custom rocker cover would be awesome! But then I can't see that being £500 as I guess the design would be quite a lot of work.

the program will be different depending on the CNC machines used

my code is written for a HASS CNC lathe

but like i said any engineer worth their salt could model and code it in less than 10 minutes

i did it as a quick project at college

Billet Cam cover, B-C Pillar bar like top fuel, maybe?, brake brackets was a good one for say some OEM Brembo's, honestly can't think much right now, harder than you'd imagine!
