Not sure how many of you know the pain that can be encountered in changing the stock cd player, I had a go a few years and ended up giving up and leaving it to an auto electrician. I found this full how-to pdf on the net though. Just thought it could be of interest to anyone attempting to change their stock cd players.

thanks for the link, will became handy when I ll be getting rid of my useless nav system

First thing I did on my EK9 was swap the head unit, was a good few hours work but not that much harder than doing it on either my skyline or yaris tbh

Compared to doing it on other cars it's a good bit different. I've fitted a lot of cd players and the civic is the only one I gave up on. Partly cause I didn't know what to actually do. That's just a guide to help people who might get stuck

That's a good thread. Should make up a sticky of it some where as I doubt we're the ones who've had the troubles with them

Great guide, thanks. Must be a Japanese thing with stereos. I have managed to fit cd players into loads of cars but the only times i've had problems with them has been with asian cars. Suzuki swift I ended up losing my tail lights, auto electrician had to sort it. My girlfriends Kia Rio, I dont know what I did wrong, but ended up with smoke billowing out from the dashboard! Again, auto electrician and a new wiring loom. cost a pretty penny lol.

civic's suck to change decks in. when i buy my new one, im just letting best buy install it FO FREE! hahah

its pretty easy once you know to take the ash tray panel and the one underneath the wheel off. Then its only 4 screws and a few connections holding the console in place! :naughty:

I've gotta get around to this. Getting bored of BBC Radio 2 in the ek9... that's as high as the frequency goes. 89.9 fm

Not a job im looking forward to. Looks incredibly fiddly.

If the weather authorities bless me with dry/warm weather I most probably will attempt this tomorrow morning

its a piece of piss on a prefacelift. slightly more difficult getting the facelift one out as you have to remove the entire centre console and unclipping some of the switches can be tricky especially if you've fat hands! good luck.
