Haven't seen arches like this on an ek9 :o

Christ! Is the best way to prevent that just, as above, waxoiling around the arches especially thoroughly? I've got a full underseal but this makes me nervous given the amount of grit and salt about. Granted I've not had to drive in the snow much luckily!

For the lip of the arch I'm going to order a sheet of VentureShield and cut it to size, then stick it on. Otherwise you can put anti-stonechip on it and repaint.

This is the way in my opinion if you want to take it seriously, BMW started doing this, but make sure you take the rear quarter interior plastics out and wax the inside of the quarter and around the arch, as you know rust starts on the inside first so I hope none of you guys get a nasty surprise!

I HATE rust!

that is a bit of a dog! one of my mates imported a skyline several years ago looked mint in the pictures wen it came over the outside was perfect but wen u lifted the boot carpets it was a wreck it had obv been in a big crash and bodged up. in this country it was classed as a write off fuked him out of a fare few notes!

OUCH! That kills me looking at it... Poor 9! Needs some attention and quick!

Oh yeah that's bad rust on the arches, think that's been driven for a few years without protection. How come it's on an R reg and it's a facelift?

Its not a facelift model, its a pre-facelift with a facelift front end!!
Look at the pic of the interior and you will see the pre-facelift dash

its a shame when people break perfectly good ek9s then you get heaps of shite like this going about.

That is some HARSH rust.

The fella who does my body work & has done for years & years swears by putting Vaseline on the inner arches of cars to stop rust ... cant say I have followed his advice ... what do you think?

Good advice, few people up our way do that

No point in breaking a perfectly good car thats just stupidity IMO! Especially a car as rare as an EK9, Sacrilege!:(

A-bit of TLC & this would be a great 9 at that price,

For anyone who is interested in this car I think the obvious thing to do would be to-go & view it rather than slating it on a forum!

Very tempted myself at that price:p

That's a good eye for detail you got there JDM_VTEC, i missed that. Thought it seemed a bit dodgy with it being a R reg & facelift front end...mmm, it makes you wonder about it's history.

Ok guys just to put you all out of your misery. This is my car!
Its a proper level car with no Syncro issues and no Engine issues, the interior is in very good condition as is the rest of the car apart from the bits i have highlighted.
Ok so the rear arches have more the average amount of corrosion but I have not tried to imply otherwise in my advert and have put close and detailed photos of the rust. The pics do make it look worse than it is as they are close ups
Also I think the above issues are reflected in my asking price.
Oh and the underside of the car is in good order and it has never been welded.
I would also like to say that I am not a honda mentalist and dont claim to know everything about EK9s but I have been told by self proclaimed honda mentalists that it is possible for an R reg car to be a facelift and also it is possible for it to have the older style heater controls, however some people have said the opposite so I just dont know whether its a factory facelift or not.
However there is no evidence of any non factory welding on the inner wings as would be neccesary to covert a pre-facelift car to facelift and all factory stickers etc on the inner wings/ slam/landing panel are present and look original. Also the the car is presently still available and is still on Pistonheads due some sad 0 feedback bidders ruining my auction at the last minute, I think I know who they are but not sure what there motives might be.
All I would ask of people is to not judge a book by its cover as no one who has commented on my car on this forum has actually seen or driven my car.
Merry Xmas

Fair play to ya mate for coming on here and explaining, shame you got let down by dipshit zero feedback ebayers. Good luck with the sale, i'm sure there are many people on here that want a cheap ek9. Merry xmas & :welcome:

We aint slating the car by any means all we are saying is for a ek9 ( an import where they do not use salt on their roads ) that is considered pretty bad, and you will not know the full extent of the rust until you rip the rear plastics out and take a gander at the actual inner arch

Good luck with the sale and hopfully someone restores it!
