Ok lads , was out with me mate today having a few drag races , done about 8 in total, after the runs my engine check light came on and my idle dropped to 500 rpm and when i press the throttle to accelerate the car it kinda of splutters a slight bit before it picks up accelerating , Also the engine light is staying on now but it is only since after the few races we had .

Any Ideas What The Problem Might Be Lads.

Id start off checking obvious things such as spark plugs, leads, dizzy etc. Maybe also a sensor on the throttle body.

The first issue is you took an EK9 (12 year old car and engine drag racing) ;)
2nd could be any of the others already said

I'll echo this, get the fault codes off it and checked. Guessing just wastes time.

Ok lads i got 9 quick flashes which i checked and it is CYP Cylinder sensor , What would sort this out ???

you need to Check this:

1. Distributor Cap - Visually inspect this for any cracks - if yes then replace it.
2. Distributor Rotor - Check for carbon deposits, if its all burned, replace it. Make sure the screw holding this is tight so rotor won't come off once you start the car.
3. Spark Plug Wires - In a dark place/garage open the hood and start the car. Look for any electric leaks along the wires, you'll see blue lightning like stuff if there are any leaks - if yes, replace wires.
4. Check Ignition timing using a Timing light - this could be off - use a repair manual to adjust it.
5. If all this checks out fine then unfortunately its the Cyl position sensor in your distributor housing that needs to be replaced.

Ive had it with the OEM distributors.
COP is needed for any level of reliability on track.
Daily driver, OEM distributors are ok, not good for track use if you ask me.
A serious weak point with the B series.

Just took it off there. The screw that holds the rotor arm onto the shaft came loose and flung around inside the casing. It wrecked the coil pack cowling, rotor arm tip fairly worn, broke one the points inside the cap also. The big prob is the screw struck the cyp sensor and put a chip in it under the metal pick up. Have cleaned it all out car runs now no check light but still has slight missing. Will I get away with new cap and arm or would cyp sensor be effected by a chip
