Hey Mate, not an EK9 thats the chassis code for the Type R only

What you're looking at is a standard model, maybe an EK3/4 I'm not 100% but the other guys can confirm this for you :)

WTTC

ah rite ok lol thanks, they all look the same and didnt have a clue haha.

is there a site specific for this model? or is it ok to stay here? :)

EDIT: its a 2000 Honda Civic 1.4 Tropica Special Edition

cool, will have a browse at these threads now thanks :)

welcome to the forum m8 u certainly wont have any problems with jap reliability :) i had 2 corsa vxrs and they both only lasted a month before breaking :p

Welcome!

Its an EJ9 - look out for it being smokey from the exhaust is about all the advice i could give you but they are usually sound.

Make sure its been serviced regularly and timing belt done !

thanks guys, ahh ej9 :) been bugging me which it was lol
couldn't go today so going tomorrow, excited lol.

i have a noobish question... is this a vtec engine? although i suppose you wouldn't feel a vtec on a 1.4 :drive:

Hi mate welcome to forum, I am new to this site to used have a 1.4 too, good wee cars, don't think you can get a vtec in a 1.4 but sure someone will correct me if I am wrong!

No you carnt get a v-te in a 1.4 only 1.6 n above I had a ej9 they nippy for wht they are n a good lil car

Hi mate welcome to eknine :) ej9 looks good :nice:
Unfortunately there won't be any vtec in your ej9, but still a great little car.
Don't get vtec in the 1.4's i'm afraid, some 1.5's and most 1.6 or larger will have it.
Enjoy the forum :nice:

went to see the civic today, quite disappointed :/
Mechanically sound, but didnt have any evidence if the timing belt had been done.
passenger electric window was dodgy closed very slow, and rear fogs didnt work aswell as no parcel shelf and water in spare wheel well.

:( gutted now, really nice to drive too

Don't worry about the slow windows, nearly every old honda i've been in has got this problem :nice: Parcel shelf isn't too much of a problem either. But water in the in the spare wheel well isn't all that good. Could be a sign that its been in a rear end shunt :( Any sign of damage repairs??
Whats the plan now? Find another one or haggle down on price? Did it have a full service history?

service history was patchy, its on 85k dealer history to 42k then private services with receipts onwards .

as for rear end shunt it had a scuff on the back bumper but couldnt see no damage behind the bumper or under the car.

we tried hagling down but he didnt go as low as we wanted, taking into consideration the cost to fix what was wrong, mite decide to go back for another look, but will keep looking in the mean time.

was amazed driving it pretty damn quick compared to my crappy corsa haha, nice to drive too ;)

You get 1.5 SOHC VTEC engines.

You also get 1.6 SOHC Non VTEC engines.

To answer your question, no the 1.4 is a non VTEC engine.
