Are they direct plug and play? Not cutting/crimping wires?
What are the difference between HID kits?

These are more or less plug and play, not cutting or anything. Basically you take the wiring harness that leads to the existing lights and plug them into the ballasts, then the provided wiring from the ballasts to the headlights with the HIDS fitted and thats more or less it.

The hardest part is finding where to put the (Effin') ballasts

Im so tempted in these its untrue, do these count as a decent valentines gift?

By the looks of the pics that General posted up they are slim ballasts, shouldnt be to hard to find a place to secure them.

HID's a very easy to install, there are a few guids on here on How to install them.

The difference in light output is night and day, aslong as you get a sensible colour temprature, 6000k looks closest to OEM Xenon, anything over and they will get more blue / purple and reduce light output.

HID's is one of the first things i do to a car, living in the Scottish highlands you need good lights. As long as you have them aimed correctly and not blinding other drivers they are a good investment. and for 50 odd quid posted to your door is a bargain.

So far the most common kit is the 6000k followed by the 8000k.

And yes they seem well made, I'm using the same kit on my EK9
