Im getting my timing belt done in the next couple of weeks, going to have to get the parts myself as Honda dealer is useless i believe its the one out of the DC2 is this correct

Also they mentioned something about all vtecs having to have 2 belts changed any info would be great thanks.

2 belts!!! sounds weird..never heard that on any car. not timing wise anyways.

you sure they dont mean the timing belt and aux belt..common to change the aux at the same time.

No they asked do i have 1 belt or 2 and i said 1 whats the second one for and they said because it was a vtec..... thought this was odd and confused me alot

im definately confused!

a friend of mine had a quote off honda in cardiff of £200 to change the cam belt. that didnt include the water pump or tensioner as they said they would see what state they were in first.
think that was through the honda happiness scheme.

timing belt for b16b is same as b18c, you should also change your water pump and tensioner. DO NOT BUY A B16A belt, it will NOT fit.

is the water pump and tensioner the same as the b18c then ?

Sorry to thread jack, but I need to know this aswell. Just to clarify, when changing the cam belt, you need to replace the cam belt, tensioner, pully and water pump?

it tends to be recommended that you change the tensioner on most cars. but i only ever heard that changing the water pump was recommended from honda owners.

Hi the part no for the ek9 b16b timing belt from honda is :14400-p72-014 :)
i hope this helps

think ive managed to sort something out cheers folks
Also came across a company Hond-R anyone used them before?

when my car came over i had the following changed

cambelt
waterpump
tensioner
tensioner spring

if you go to honda with your vin number they will get the parts for you no bother :)

any idea or explanation regarding the original 2 belt question??

2 belts is rubbish - no one listen to that.

I changed my cambelt and my mates last weekend (b16a2 engines) - but i only replaced the belt - my water pump and tensioner was ok - i have auto data car manual which also lists common problems and checking the water pump was essential!

Was a very simple job - my old belt had stretched quite a bit more than i had expacted tho and when i lined up the crank bolt timing mark my timing looked to be a tooth out when looking at the cam pulleys but it was due to the stretched belt (exact same on my mates to be honest)!

Alot of people change all drive belts when doing a Cam belt change but its not always necessary. Maybe thats why the guy said 2 belts - but to be honest it would be 3 or 4 depending if you have air con or not.
