How to get insured on an ek9 at 17 in Irl??!!

in my opinion you should NEVER get insured on a car like the EK9 tpft!

plus like already stated its people like 17 year old blasting round car park doing wheels spins and driving like a complete n*b

if my past was anything to go by you WILL get pulled and done over! insurance companys are not stupid they have a big computer full of do's and dont's so they know alot more than your self about insurance.

going from feeding the steering wheel and three point turns to an 185bhp "racing car" is a very stupid move.......

but good luck :nice::nerv:

i am agredd with some of the guys for your first few years of driving i think its best to stay in less powerful cars, and just keep what you've got build up experiance and no claims then by 20 an ek9 will be perfect... up to you obviously i can see why you want one so bad but i think it'll be more worth the wait in a few years etc

i have my car insured the way you are suggesting mate so yes it can be done..it has to be with quinn direct or excess direct though as these are the only two insurance companies in ireland that i found that allow you to drive someone elses car and be covered once its not in your name at any age once you have your own insurance policy on your "own" car and have a full licence...most insurance companies say you have to be over 25...hope this helped ..:nice: i have been insured on my 9 since i was 18 this way and i am 19 now..

It will be next to impossible to get insured but if you want to pay stupid money for insurance (in my opinion) then you prob will be able to get a quote. If I was you I would try an SiR, the poor mans type r , or as I say to my self "the clever mans type R!" Im 24 2 years ncb and it kills me to pay 1800 third party on my SiR,
Have tried about 15 insurance companies and only got quotes from 3.

Im insured with Quinn who have gone belly up earlier today :nerv:

At 17 the only company that probably insure you on sir not even a 9 is quinn direct and the odds are you gonna get big qutoe, I am 21 with 2 years no claim bonus got insured by quinn for 2400 on sir fully comp. A lot of insurers have problems insuring import cars especially ek4s and ek9s.

No-one seems to have mentioned the fact that when you crash, and your insurance is invalid, you'll probably be looking at a driving ban too. Nice one, nobody on the bus will care that you used to own an EK9.

You think the world is stupid, as do most 17 year olds. Give it a try by all means, if a £6k car, £2k insurance premium and a years driving ban is something you can afford to piss away then I wish you the best of luck.

Oh and by the way, insurance companies view driving without insurance convictions as bad as drink driving. Not that you'll care because you probably won't tell them about it, but trust me, I know, I've been there.

yeah supos... but if im fully insured(tpft) on a car and my dad is insured on my ek9...am i insured to drive the ek9?? soz for all the confusing questions..

u will have to get an OPEN insurance poilicy and quinn is the only 1 that does it without an age restriction! the thing is if u crash u cant claim and if u get caught by a wanker of a cop he can do u for not having an insurance disc for yourslef in your car!!! u only have 3rd party! and no fire and theft! i was trying to get on 1 at 18 with just a provisional licence and not a chance but might try when i get the full hopefully in 9 weeks!

you'll have no chance now, as quinn has made it 25 and over from now on....

how do you have a full license at 17??? do you not have to be 18???

also i always find you will have hassle when you use "LOOPHOLES" in insurance, claims will take longer and when a guard stops you your gonna get a lot of bother.

i'm 21 and barely got insured on my SiR. just do what we all have to do and grin and bare with lesser powered cars till you can get what you what easily and mpst of all legally.....

im just gone 18 but ive been drivin my ek4 since i was 17..

the way i insured it is through quinn's open insurance policy..

i've insured an 800cc matiz with me and the girlfriend on the policy for 1300..

that allowed me to drive the sir as long as it wasn't in my name and i had a full licence.. so basically the girlfriend gets the matiz and i get the sir for 1300 between the 2 of us for the year..

i've been stopped by the guards a few times and once you keep a copy of your insurance and the open insurance policy in the car it keeps the guards off your back..

altho im still unsure if the insurance will pay out if i have an accident so just be careful of that.. im sure theyd find a way outta payin..

plenty of lads down here use that to insure things at a young age..

hopefully ive helped ya out a bit

im thinkin of doin this soon as iv no money to renew, does the sir have to be insured by someone else or just not in your name??

savage pitty ireland wasnt like that with insurance!

and i wud say dont get 1 for your first car and this is the reason: a friend of a friend bought an ek9 for his first car a good few years ago, jumped into it the day he got it and tore off the down the road and straight into tree/ditch and he was killed cuz he cudnt handle it!
