Yeah mine is a B16a2, I've got a Skunk2 exhaust manifold, and a decat Mugen twin loop exhaust system, so the way I see it, upgrading the intake manifold to an teggy tr will be a good upgrade, is this right?

not really unless your fitting Type R or better cams. With a higher rev range.

if not Id stick wid the std b16a manifold.

The Design of the type R mani is that it has shorter but slightly wider runners making it better flowing but only right up in the rev range past around 7600-8600. Where as the b16a manifold has longer but slightly thinner runners witch will give the car a better power curve throughout. but wont be quite as good as the R right up top.

Champion! :nice:

very good upgrade for a b16 engine.Mate has it on this pretty standard engine and makes a big difference.with full exhaust, and good breathing mods you have a pretty quick wee car

Thanks, i couldn't have asked for a more detailed explanation, if i were to upgrade the camshafts aswell, should i go for ctr or itr or is that a silly question? Do you know round about what price they sell for?

As you can probably tell im new to the jap scene so i appreciate this help and advice.

Thanks

Thanks for the info, and thanks for your positive comments on my mods,

CTR or ITR really dosnt matter the CTR intake cams is very slighly better but not noticable as most the 99- ITR's were fitted with the same cams.
Would expect to pay at the most £200 for a set of Type R cams

If your wanting top end power then you will need the type R or better valvetrain to rev over the standard 8400 of a b16a and then use the type R manifold aswell but may loose out on some low-mid range torque.

But on the other hand if you want to keep that lil extra mid range torque and jus get some better top end (but not quite as high peak figures as with the higher rev range and mani) plus save alot of money why not jus install the Type R cams into your standard b16a, skim a bit off you head for a lil more Compression, keep the 8400rpm rev lim then get a "GOOD" remap and you will have a very usable fast little b16a. I would hazard a gues at round 175-185hp depending on the map.

All really depends on what you want from the car, how far you want to tune and how much you want to spend.

Thanks, In all fairness I'm not to bothered about top end, I want it to accelerate faster, probably up to about 80mph, after that I don't really mind.

Any suggestions?

I have a ITR complete head inc cams & complete inlet manifold inc throttle body sat in my garage if you are intrested in these????

But if its acceleration you are after i would go for a colse ratio gear set, that is were you will get most gains for your money!:naughty:

Many people over look this mod. it works well if your after acceleration.
