What is the best kit to go for when supercharging a ek9 the jackson kit seems a good price, but what are they like quality wise and do they last without droping apart etc

vortec is the best quality supercharging system FOR HONDAS on the market by far. the JR srew type supercharger suffers from too much heat output. the rotrex superchagers are good quality too.

I would say Rotrex is the best but i do not believe anybody makes a kit for any 92-00 civic/integra, there are a couple of K20 kits. Jackson Racing as EK9turbo has pointed out is crap to put it bluntly however if you are just after a small increase and want to feel like you have a stroked engine without actually stroking it then the JRSC is not a bad option you just have to realize that 190whp is about the average on the 6psi pulley and 220whp is the maximum on the higher output pulley without an aftercooler. You can make up to 280whp with a JRSC but you will need an LHT after cooler and a built 2.0 high compression engine with a good exhaust system, a proper tune, and high octane fuel.

It would be better if you tell us how much power you are after and we can give you more advise. I honestly think if your after a JRSC building an NA 2.0 is a much better option, you will have about the same if not more power with more reliability and better response plus less weight.

Is there not a company in the states that can modify JRSC to improve the heatsoak issues?

Believe it's quite expensive though, bit of a bother to have to have it modified to work efficiently too

if your gonna go far enough to make a JRSC make respectable power then your better off going turbo,

we ran a JRSC equipped DC2 with hondata S200 Rc 440cc injectors (mapped by cpl racing :nerv:) and the higher psi pulley and it made 207 WHP lasted about 15000 miles until it melted one of the pistons,

all in this ended up being a 5K conversion for that kinda money your well on your way to a turbo set up, 207 whp is bugger all for that kinda expense,

i used to have a dc2 and loved it but it just lacked torque so i thought a supercharger would be the best option giving more torque but also lower down the rev range. As for power im not massivley power hungry as its a budget car for me at the moment dont want to be spending a fortune on a forged build just want more power than standard about 250bhp maybe bit more. What do you think is the best way to go dare i say k20 swap?

is now discontinued but very capable, very reliable (used to come with 3yr supercharger warranties!) and if you have a built shortblock then your set for great power! top bit of kit!

no good if its discontinued but it does look like a good kit something like that would be ideal. So what options are there for a b16-18 engine apart from the jackson racing charger

I don't really like vortech either, might as well go turbo, a good sized turbo will make more power in every part of the powerband than either supercharger options and the price of the vortech kit is a joke at $5000!!

B-series superchargers you're pretty much SOL.

For any setup that doesn't require you to go over 1.8L - your horsepower cap is as blinx stated limited to 260whp +/- 20whp.

LHT is the company that makes the aftercooler to address the heat soak issues.... it's brilliantly designed, but it's just a bigger bandaid to the inherent issues of the JRSC itself.

That's still "a lot" I suppose - but I think the best alternative would be to design a system using the rotrex units. Even Oscar Jackson himself left the roots chargers in favor of the Rotrex and they've been well received and proven on the Hondata team cars....

The other true alternative is using custom bits from a Ford Thunderbird.
still - though everybody has been jumping ship on the roots style chargers, here's a real in-depth look on how to make turbo numbers from a roots charger.

rmcdaniels is crazy, i followed that thread for a while, im sure its an amazing car to drive but were they ever able to put a kit together for a halfway decent price?

it's still listed at approximately $1700.00 USD. Even if it were to double at $3400.00 it's still on par with say an Edelbrock kit - I'd go as far as saying $5,000 is within the limits of reason if Roger does see 500whp (built motor of course)

He intends to put together a kit that is as bolt-on and turn key as possible. It's probably why it took him 2...going onto 3 years to iron out all the niggles that would have made 90% of all others who attempted something so custom to give up already... I mean the guy's been disintegrating roller bearings on dynos on top of blowing up motors and pretty much everything else along the way!!
